There should be an alternative compatible power cable for your TV, such as the cable to your home PC computer, if you desperately need to use it of course. Or for replacement Just go to any electronic store and ask them if they have the power cable for the model of your TV.

Write down your TV model and ask them if they have the cable for it, if they dont just ask them for an alternative cable which " Will " with your specific model.

This is a classic sound of a switchmode power supply capacitor "popping" this symptom may have many, many causes. It would be best to get a "Quote" for repair. That way you can tell, if you wish to repair or replace.

Tune to 90 for S-video, 91 for input 1 and 92 for input 2.

90 and 91 uses audio 1 for input
92 uses audio 2 for input.

you may have to enable them in the setup menu.

Get into the menus, and pick the setup menu. The one at the bottom of the list. The first item is captioning. Use the +/- to change the value to OFF. Then use the menu button to exit, or wait for it to time out.

No, unless you are receiving over cable or satellite. You will need a DTV converter box if you are using an antenna to receive Over The Air television signals. The Proscan has an analog only tuner, so the ATSC (digital) signals will not be visible.

set up channel 90 91 and 92. 90 is for S-video input, paired audio with composite video on 91. 92 is for input 2, composite and R/L audio. You need to enable them in the setup menu by manually tuning to 90/91/91 and then adding them.

This problem is called blooming, and it is caused by poor High Voltage Regulation. It usually denotes a problem in the HV section of the TV. More then likely the problem is in the IHVT (Integrated High Voltage Transformer).

Proscan is owned by RCA, but they have very little support for that product any more. RCA created another company to deal with the product it is http://www.oncorpus.com/ They may have support for your TV set.

The chassis number is CTC169CG5 (This may help you find service data) since this same chassis is used in RCA models.

Any shop servicing RCAs should be able to find this chassis number and provide service to you, if RCA or Thomson Electronics is non-responsive to you.

If what you are trying to say is that you have a 1/4 inch horizontal line across your screen, this means that something in your vertical deflection circuit has failed. This could be the vertical oscillator, the vertical output processor, the vertical coupling capacitor, or the vertical section of the yoke transformer.

If what you are talking about is a vertical line from top to bottom then you are possibly talking about a failed horizontal section of the yoke transformer.

Why so little about the horizontal section of the yoke? That is because if the horizontal section fails completely then you would lose high voltage and no line would be present because you would not have raster (screen light).

In any even check the yoke transformer first. Then work back from there.

Go to your local shop of electronic parts and ask if they have a remote control for your Proscan PS27123 TV. If they haven't, ask for universal remote control (or go to another shop). Of course it's the expensive way of the problem solution, but it's worth it.

just to be sure, is it vertical or horizontal? Anyway, if it is vertical, it could point out to the vertical Ic section or some loose contacts along the lines. If it is horizontal, it could be a filter capacitor along the horizontal Circuitry. Mark the high voltage capacitors along the high voltage sections.
