Disc plays but no sound

The problem can be in the laser pickup assembly all the way to a bad speaker, try headphones to see if audio is present, if yes! the earphone jack, speaker, and audio output chip is the issue, if no sound! it is more than likely the assembly.

MY POLAROID PORTABLE DVD PLAYER MODEL PDM 0711

Hello,

the problem is from your screen inverter or screen flex. either of the two is defective, that's why the screen is misbehaving. This is very common with portable DVD players. The flex or inverter gets worn out as a result of constant opening and close of the player.

To confirm connect the player to your TV via the AV Out on the player.

Good luck.

Sound, but no picture

Hi,

Initially, this would either be a defective LCD panel or its interface. A way to verify is to play the portable DVD using an external video monitor such as your TV. If still gray or blue screen (no video) even in the TV/monitor, then it would be the video interface/circuitry. If the video is displayed, then it would just be the LCD panel display.

If it turns out to be the LCD display, it is very possible that it is a backlighting issue. Most likely, it would be in the inverter and/or CCF (cold cathode florescent) lamps. This is a relatively easy repair by re-soldering. It is perhaps more of a task to open the panel lid/cover of the LCD display.

This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

PDM-0722 Screen showing upside down

I don't own this, but I just looked up the Manual. If it's a picture on the screen, using the arrow (Direction buttons) will rotate the screen. Also is looks like the Mode button may also change the orientation of the screen. Hope that does something for you

The speakers are very staticky. Is there anything

Hi , this is a common problem with this type of dvd player it starts happening after it has been used for a while the problem is actually with the speakers they tend to start getting this problem after regular use.
Their isnt an easy fix for this problem the only wat to solve this problem is to get the speakers replaced if you take it to repair shop they will do this for you.
On your model if you have a setup menu you can enter the sound options and turn down the bass and treble a bit doing this might reduce the crackle but it wont be long term fix.
sorry their is know easy fix for this.
Do you get this sound whilst using head phones or just the internal speakers if you get the crackling noise through headphones also then the chances are the lense needs replacing if you have tried a good lense cleaner then replacing parts is the only way to solve the problem your having.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Polaroid Portable DVD won't work

First try a couple more discs. If it still doesn't work. Take a little bit of alcohol on a qtip and clean off the little clear circle under the lid. Make sure the dics you are using a not scraped and not foreign. If that doesn't work, order a new one and put the old one in the new box and send it back as broken.
