Please do the following:
-Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over
-Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
-Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water to thoroughly clean the print head and each ink cartridge.
-Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
-Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges.
If that does not work then you have one of two possibilities:
1.One of the ink cartridges is defective and causing the error
2.The print head will need to be replaced.

Forget about reentering the printer name into the printer selection space, instead, you may want to unplug the unit from the PC, uninstall the software, then reinstall the software, and after the software has loaded completely, hook up the printer to the PC. After connecting the printer to the PC, the PC should identify that a new piece of hardware has been detected and the printer model number should now be visible as a choice when deciding to print; it should also be visible in the area of the control panel that displays attached printers, scanners and fax machines. You can make the printer the default printer if you right click on the printer icon in the control panel, click preferences, and click on default.
Printing purple where black should be
In this case what i would request u to do is....... Take out both the cartridges from the Printer......... Take 2 Paper Towels one should be wet with Luke warm water and the other one should be dry........... Take the Colour cartridge first turn it upside down and u will see a small copper plate on the cartridge from where the ink comes out....... Place the wet paper towel using ur thumb on the Copper plate and press it a lit bit for 10 Seconds...... Now remove it and see whether u see any ink on the paper towel.......... U should see some ink on it now place the dry paper towel on the ink cartridge in the same way........ Now do the same procedure again.......... Do the same procedure twice on the Black cartridge................. Now take the dry paper towel and turn the direction of the cartridge so that u can see a Copper plate on it with small boxes just clean that copper plate with the Dry Paper Towel.......... Know insert both the cartridges inside the Printer.Good Luck!!!!
