Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Your amp is clipping. Try adding a capa
A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you.
Your amp is fryed it happened to me. Pull the covers off so you can see the mother board and Then try connect all wires. But don't connect the light up display. Good luck. Im gets a bit Hot now and only two ch work
The unit is internally grounded. Something has broken inside and grounding out the power, the amp will need to be serviced or trashed. Try calling Fosgate. They may have a serviceman or "fix it" department
USE THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION. SWITCH THE RCA INPUTS AROUND AND IF THE PROBLEM STAYS IN THE SAME CHANNEL, THE THE AMPLFIER OR SPEAKER IS AT FAULT. IF THE PROBLEM SWITCHES TO THE OTHER SPEAKER, THEN THE PROBLEM IS THE RCA CABLE OR RADIO ITSELF. YOU CAN VERIFY YOUR FINDINGS BY STARTING WITH THE SPEAKERS FIRST. SWAP THE SPEAKERS AROUND AND IF THE PROBLEM STAYS ON THE SAME SPEAKER, THEN THE SPEAKER IS AT FAULT. IF THE PROBLEMS SWITCHES TO THE OTHER SPEAKER, THEN THE AMPLIFIER OR INPUTS ARE TO BLAME. BY FOLLOWING THESE TWO METHODS, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHICH COMPONENTS ARE AT FAULT. REMEMBER, YOU HAVE AN INPUT, AN AMPLIFIER AND A SPEAKER. THIS PROCESS OF ELIMINATION WILL HELP YOU IN THE FUTURE WITH MANY TYPES OF PROBLEMS. LET ME KNOW IF YOU REQUIRE FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V PS: MAKE SURE THAT THE GAINS AND BOOST CONTROLS ARE SET TO THE SAME LEVEL FOR BOTH CHANNELS BEING TESTED. ALSO MAKE SURE THAT THE BALANCE CONTROL ON THE RADIO IS STILL SET TO THE MIDDLE. DON'T WANT THESE CURVEBALLS INTERFERING WITH YOUR TROUBLESHOOTING......V
your Volfenhag 12" subs are rated at 1200 watts they are only 600 watts rms and the Rockford punch p4004 is only 200 watts rms so the answer is yes it will work but if you get a amplifier that pushes out 500 - 600 watts rms you will love the sound from subs
there is nothing wrong with the Rockford amp it just wont pound out the bass as hard but the good news is you will never blow the subs with it
when buying amps or subs make sure to look at rms rating that is the true power they actually have ie. (sub box says 1200 watt you think powerful but if you divide it in 1/2 you actually get 600 watts rms) don't get me wrong that's a nice rating. for a sub but you will want to match that number with the amps rms rating or lower. The RMS is what makes the car pound the higher the RMS the better
hope this helps
I used to have one of those amps also (nice amp btw) Did you try another fuse of the same size?
Is it blowing fuses everytime you put one in or did it just blow that one fuse ?
Is the conection on the battery solid and clean of corrosion build up? Because that is a good amp and if wired properly shouldnt blow out or anything and so if the speaker is not blown then maybe connection is weak somewhere? I would try disconnecting the speakers from it and try a new fuse and if it does not blow the new fuse than amp is ok? and if it does blow the new fuse right away then there must be a short somewhere in the wire or the amp. then disconnect the fuse again and reconnect the speakers and if the fuse blows with the speakers connected but doesnt blow with them disconnected then you know it is a blown speaker causing the problem.
Just currious but what size fuse do you have connected at the battery?
There is no reset button, if you've confirmed that you have a good ground and sufficient voltage on the B+ and remote terminals, the ampifier is in need of repair.
If you're interested in troubleshooting/repairing it yourself, read through the following page to familiarize yourself with the inner workings of an amplifier.
A common problem on these amps is broken connections on the remote turn-on connector lug. If it's loose in the board, that would be the first thing you'd need to repair.
