Try restarting to see if your mouse gets picked up. Also use tab key to navigate without a mouse.

Simply tap twice on the orange light and your pad will be working again, this is basically a lock like the HP had in earlier which was made enable/disable by Fn+F7 key, As a new advancement its a lock and also indicator, when you see orange light it means that touchpad is locked, for unlocking simply tap twice on the orange light on touchpad, and it will start working again
