Sherwood R-945 Receiver Questions & Answers
How to switch on Sub?
surround and subwoofer may not work if there is an additional graphic equaliser operating.
1. check in your receiver speaker setting ensure your speaker setup doesn not have subwoofer set to NONE. this will block any signal to your subwoofer socket.
2 when you select your surround sound setting setup, ensure you select the speaker mode you want, if there is a multicontrol knob, cycle through the choices
select subwoofer mode and set it to yes.
if you have set-up small speakers S in your speaker settings then it could be that subwoofer is set to yes automatically if you have large speakers L, subwoofer has to be set additionally in the subwoofer setting.
3 test subwoofer on alternative device to test it is working ok
consult manual on enjoying surround sound and adjusting the speaker settings.

Hi,
I assumed that your receiver has a SUB RCA jack on the back..
find out the SUB output 1xRCA plugs of your receiver on the back and
connect it to the 1x RCA input of your Sub...you just need a RCA cable .

Sherwood rv 6030r does not turn on.
Try these simple trick to find out yor remote control working or not....
Point the remote control towards the Camera of a Mobile Camera
phone, with the camera on. While pressing remote, we can see a light
(Infra Red) coming from its IR LED through the Mobile Camera if the
Remote is working.
If the remote is OK, then the problem with the Remote Sensor or related components of the receiver.
No power
disconnect everything from the unit and see if it still does it.
if it does i would check the output transistor (ic).
No power
The Sherwood R-945 has at least 6 fuses inside - any one of them could keep the system from powering on properly. The lowest power fuse is rated at only 35 MILIamps, I believe ( it's element is barely visible to the naked eye ). Check that all fuses are intact (with the power off)
My R-945 unit kept shutting itself off directly after powering up - turned out that one of the speaker wires had a fault - (found after hours searching with voltmeter). Check that all Inputs / Outputs are secure.
Good luck with yours!
What is an output transistor?
output tranisister is the transister that give the finial output of sound.
some use a output IC for the same purpose.
Sherwood Rd-6505 hisses from both speakers
The soft hiss that you are hearing from both speakers of your Sherwood RD-6505 may be caused by a few different factors:
- Ground loop: A ground loop occurs when there are two or more devices connected to a common ground, causing a voltage difference between the grounds. This voltage difference can create interference, resulting in a hissing sound.
- Faulty cable or connection: Check all of the connections and cables between your audio source and the Sherwood RD-6505. Make sure that they are plugged in securely and that the cables are in good condition. A faulty cable or connection can create interference and result in a hissing sound.
- Amplifier issue: The hissing sound may also be caused by an issue with the amplifier circuitry in the Sherwood RD-6505. If this is the case, you may need to take the device to a professional for repair.
- Power issue: If the power supply of the Sherwood RD-6505 is unstable, it can also result in a hissing sound. Check the power supply and ensure that it is providing the appropriate voltage.
If you have checked all of these potential causes and are still experiencing the hissing sound, it may be best to contact a professional for further diagnosis and repair.

Sherwood RD 6506 - centre speaker not working
Hi,
If the speakers work during the test, then the issue might be with how surround sound is programmed on your tv. You should look into your sound settings with your tv's remote. Thank you.
