Thomson 24WK25U 24" TV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My TV wont turn on
In most cases the standby light might blink with different rapidity to indicate a fault relevant to the processor. It is possible that most of these indicate that there are errors in the processing section . Since there is a possible short or leak in the circuit the output driver section can take in huge current to trip the SMPS or from advice from the micro processor. Remove the power plugs and make sure that high voltage sections are discharged of the potential stored in capacitors. Look for visible signs of leak or of busted capacitors. Look for bulged capacitors or damaged components- burnt or busted. Use a multimeter to check the continuity or shorting in components, if so detach from circuit and test . If the voltage builds up and the set power ON and then shuts up then the suspected section must be checked in detail.
The processor must have the +5 voltage to the function properly , the +B and secondary voltages also must be checked to infer the fault. Trace with caution and in running through the signal path , circuit trail.

SMPS circuit consist of the same block diagram and all what is need for you is to trace from the main AC to DC conversion- the rectification , then the DC power applied to the switching/chopper device through the SM transformer.
Now check the pulse generation, if the IC is producing to start off the switching pulse. If not the IC can be defective. If there was a burn out the corresponding circuits must be changed totally as damage could have occurred. Also the SM transformer is a suspect., the current detector
opto -coupler is also a common failure.

Hello
As sound and picture are absent. your TV is in dead condition we can say.
That is there is no power gets inside your tv. All modern TVs have built in SMPS stabilisers. A sudden overvoltage, lightning etc can make harm to power supply system. We cannot predict the exact point of fault at this time. It is best for you to contact a service personal nearby. Sometimes a fuse inside may have blown up. Never try to repair it by yoursef, since orginal spare parts of Thomsun 24"TV is very difficult to get in India.

Hello
I thinks that sombody has told you that your Tvs hi tension should be replaced. Is it so? I can't get any further information from your statment. If it is so, Line Output Transformer usually known as LOT, other wise Fly Back Trsfomer Usually called as FBT should be replaced. Both are the same. LOT damage is usual. If it has damaged, you can't see picture or can hear any sound from your tv. Some TVs will make a "HISSS" sound, while most others will be silent. We call that state as dead TV.
You just do one thing. Let Fixya to give more details about your problem. Then only we can assist you properly. Thank you.

The spring is okay if the switch is coming back to the normal (Off) position by itself. It seems that the lock which hods the spring in position is broken or has worn out. In most of the cases the lock is not repairable and you will need to change the switch itself.

MY DVD REMOTE CONTROL CODES
Its likely that the new new remote control has specific codes for the components it can operate. You should look to the remote manual or online source to find the code(s) for the DVD player you have. Without knowing the remote you purchased, its hard to locate codes for you.

no not fatal, but sick. this problem you are having sounds like you have a vertical sweep problem.. It could be the vertical output IC, the sweep power supply or a capacitor or two is bad. If you have printed circuit board soldering experience, you can try and fix this yourself, but if you do not, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this repair as it should not cost more then 100 bucks to repair. Good Luck
Thomson and LG TV's difficult to switch on
It most certainly could be the cause of the problem. Most of the time when a TV set comes onm then switches off, its a fault in the power regulator circuit. Regulators can go bad all by them selfs, but most of the time, they fail due to excessive AC voltage, and or ppower surges, such as the oin off action of intermittant power would cause. On sets this old, Im not sure you would want to invest the type of cash to repair. Its onlty a guess but I would say a minimum of 125 to repair them? Its a call only you can make. You should go to this link and read this first. http://www.techlore.com/article/10602/ Good Luck

The flashibg red light
John,
I do not know of a code, but it is a good idea in the design to have several goes at starting a circuit, before completely shutting it down.
Oscillators are supposed to self start due to noise generated.
Some electronic circuits require a reset pulse to be generated before the start up is allowed. The reset circuit may not be generated if the set is turned on again too soon, so it will stay in standby.
This may normally be a few minutes to 30 minutes so it seems something in your set is faulty and could get worse.
Try a test run with the back off and clean it out of dust with a long brush to keep it cooler. Make sure little fingers cannot get near it.
Look to see if anything is obviously overheating.
