Why do you want to reset?

Hi Simon,

The reason that you cannot find Windows 7 drivers for your printer is simply because they don't exist!

Despite the fact that Windows 7 is quite popular and has been out for a month (a lot longer for those who have beta tested like me), not everyone has created drivers that are made for this OS (operating system).

I recommend that you try the Vista drivers, either the regular ones or the 64-bit one, depending on whether or not you're using Windows 7 x64 or x86. Here's a link to the drivers. In the event that it doesn't work, really your only other option is to try the XP drivers.

Resetting the printer should clear the flashing leds (flashing lights.)

How to Perform A Factory Reset:
1. Turn the printer off.

2. Hold in the circular button on the front panel of the printer.

3. Turn the printer back on.

4. When the DRUM light is lit by itself let go of the button. Hold in
the circular button on the front panel again. Once the Alarm light comes
on, let go of the button. This has performed a factory reset on the printer.

If the alarm continues, the printer may need service.

Check the paper alignment clip in the tray is Exactly on the right setting (A4), even if 1 setting over you will get this error

Make sure that your drum unit is scratch free. Vertical scratches on the drum usualy causes the problem you are having, Try changing the drum imaging unit,

go to Drivers, utilities and software updates for your Brother Product.

Open the cover-door. Are there any instructions printed on the inside of the door?

You should be able to 'unlock' the cartridge from its mounts,
and then slide it out.

Not according the Brother. If you have an HL1230 download and install the HL1430 driver.

If the Red alarm light is on and the toner light is on means the toner need to be replaced.

If the red alarm and paper light are flashing means misfeeding or no paper, or paperjam.
