To setup the Bose 901's so that all of your connected equipment's sound (cable/dvd/games/stereo/etc) comes out of the 901's.If you already have a receiver with front left and right pre-outs, I would add an amplifier. (other option is a pre-amp) Use the amplifier to create the loop the 901's need w/ their EQ and it will also add a cleaner sound and added power. That's how you can really make the Bose 901's sound amazing.

The grille will come off if you try to pry it off. Then, unscrew the bad driver. Sort of new ones are sold on E-Bay for not a lot of money. Install the new driver, secure it with screws, and snap the grille back into place.

The good news is yes, they most likely can be repaired. I owned a pair of 802's (their professional line, but very similar to your speakers) and repaired them myself.

Since you have a warranty, I'd suggest contacting Bose to find the nearest service center.

If you can't find a nearby service center, you may be able to contact a local stereo store and ask them about service. The 901's were a very popular speaker, and if you live near a large metropolitan area, you should have no problem finding someone to help you fix them.

If you plan to use them with a home theater, you will need a seperate amplifier, as most a/v receivers don't have tape monitors. With an integrated amp hook rec out to the input on eq hook output on eq to playback on tape mon. with seperates hook pre amp out to input on eq, output on eq to power amp input.

The things are simple. Let's try to clear them up. From the pre-out of the Marantz SR6004 you have to feed the signal to the Harman Kardon 3385 main-amplifier inputs and from the HK3385 speakers out you have to feed the signal to the Bose speakers. If you want to use an external equalizer you can connect the cables from SR6004 to the inputs of the equalizer and the cables from HK3385 main-amplifier inputs to the equalizer outputs. For all these connections except the speakers one you will use RCA cables like these. The quality - cost of these cables is up to you to decide, since the difference in audio quality between the cheap cables and the expensive ones is not very big and most of the users can't listen the difference. trying to hook up sereas 2 901 to onkyo sx 424 i have access to carver c 1 if that will help

Turn off power, unplugg unit, very carefully check speaker wire connections making sure no wires are touching each other or the back of the unit same at speakers connections. Also check speakers. Blown drivers can short terminals internally. This is the most likely problem. Remove the short, unit will come back on

Run the 901's with the Active EQ between the receiver Front L and R Pre-Outputs and the mono block amps, one chanel to each.

I can't find a manual for the MA700. Set them up to a certain volume and then use the speaker setup routines of the SR to match everything up volume-wise. Control will be in the AVR.
