Metz CT-4 flash gun overheated on the shaft the plastic casing overheated and melted the plastic on the handle grip I opened it up and noticed the wires inside were completely Melted.

Unfortunately, from your description, the flash is completely done for - while a repair may be possible, I doubt if it would be economically worthwhile. Replacement is probably the only answer. What may be more important is to find out why this occurred - is it down to the charger, the batteries or an internal problem with the flash ? Were the batteries those supplied by Metz, or a different make ? If they were Metz ones, then maybe you should inform the manufacturers, to help others avoid this problem, and you might get a replacement flash if it is a manufacturing problem.

My Metz 58 AF-2 isn't working, it still has all the lights and beeps but isn't flashing when you take the photo. I think it's the bulb but not sure on how I change this or if I can do it myself?

When you trigger a flash can you hear a high pitched sound (charging oscillator) or is muted? Are the batteries fresh? If indeed the discharge element is defective it needs to go in for repair or replace it.

Dismount

At the base of the unit is a compression ring used to secure it to the flash "shoe" of the camera. Turn the ring to right viewing the rear of the camera body. Then simply pull the flash straight back.

Metz 44AF-4C ready light does not come on,has new batteries, all functions work?

The energy for the very short, very high brightness flash is held in the flash capacitor of the photo flash lamp. This capacitor degrades if is not charged for long (years), and needs formatting, which is a slow charging and 2-3 consecutive shots. Sometime the first charging takes significantly longer than normal time, even minutes. If however the ready lamp does not come up even after some minutes, the flash lamp may have developed an internal fault, which can only fixed by a trained repairman. Another common culprit is wrong contact in the battery compartment. Batteries left in the flash for long often leak, and corrode the contact springs and leaves. These can be cleaned with soaked with vinegar cotton tabs (ear cleaning buds), followed by mechanical cleaning with pencil eraser.
