85mm lens stays fixed on f16 aperture

If lens continues to work in your D90, then the issue is with your D7000 camera. U might want to contact Nikon to see if there is some sort of reset available for the electronics. Also make sure that lens contacts are clean and free of dirt, etc.

How to Format a Memory Card with a Nikon D700

1) Insert the memory card you wish to format into the Nikon D700's body using the memory card slot on its' right side. Make sure the power is off before you insert the card and that you place the card in correctly. The D700 will only accept CF cards, so make sure you have this type available. 2) Turn the camera on with the power switch. Only do this after you have inserted the memory card and closed the memory card slot. 3) Press and hold both the Trash and MODE buttons down for about 2 seconds. Together, these are known as the 'Format' button. The Trash button is located on the back face of the D700 body next to the Preview button, and the MODE button is located on the top of the D700 body next to the shutter button and power switch. If done correctly, the letters 'For' should appear blinking in the shutter-speed sections of both the view finder and control panel. 4) Press and hold both the Trash and MODE buttons again to format the memory card. This will delete all photographs on your memory card and format it. Do not turn off the camera or remove the memory card while the card is being formatted. If you do not want to format the memory card, simply do not press the Trash and MODE buttons the second time and wait for the blinking 'For' to disappear, which it will do after about 6 seconds. 5) Wait until the blinking 'For' disappears. The display will now show the full amount of photographs that can now be taken on the formatted card. 6) Alternatively, you can also format your memory card from the Setup Menu in the D700 LCD menus. You can access this by pressing the MENU button on the back of the D700 body, selecting the Setup Menu and pressing Format Memory Card, OK. This will format your memory card immediately.

I cannot take photos when i shot with manual mode. The shutter clicks but no picture is actually taken.Darkness.The auto mode works fine.Lens Nikkor Micro AF-S 105mm.Drives me crazy

When you shoot in manual mode, make sure your camera sensor gets enough light. When you shoot inside with dimm light at 1/1000 of a second or faster and a aperture of 8. all pictures will be black. The best way to learn shooting in manual, is to shoot a picture in the P mode and put the picture on the screen (>) button. then select the info, where you see time, aperture iso and so on. and even better select the histogram. Note the figures in your head (or on paper) and then goto manual and make sure you have almost the same settings. Then shoot en look what the histogram shows. No histogram on the right, means to little light, so lower the shutter speed, open the diaphragm or increase the ISO. No histogram on the left, means to much light, so higher shutter speed, lower ISO or smaler diaphragm (the aperture number must be up. 3,6 is wide open 16 is almost closed.

How to remove a monitor cover from a Nikon D7000 camera

Do you mean the BM-11, or really the glass, covering the monitor? because the last is not possible. To see how to replace a complete monitor, visit ifixit.com, because they do these kind of repairs. They show the pictures or even video. The BM-11, if you don't have a battery grip (if you have, first remove the grip) then from the under side with a finger nail, click it forward, under the word Nikon on the BM-11.

How to get the Nikon in 5200 PTP Mode? Can not find USB mentioned any where.

I would not use PTP. Too many things can go wrong. Just about all professionals download directly from the SD memory card. Follow the following steps. They are very similar for both Mac and PC. 1) With the power turned off, remove the SD flash memory card from your camera. 2) If your computer has an SD card slot, insert the SD card in the slot. If it does not, there are many USB cable input card readers for under $20. Connect the external card reader to a USB receptacle on your computer. In either case, the computer will use "Plug-n-play" to connect your SD card. 3) Double click either the device or folder on your desktop. The pictures are almost always inside a subfolder. When you open that folder, you will see your photos. 4) Depending on what you want to do with your photos at this point, you may want to move the downloaded pictures to another location or software such as Lightroom or Photoshop. 5) CAUTION! If you want to erase your SD card, DO NOT DO IT VIA THE COMPUTER. Your computer's formatting may not be compatible with your camera's format algorithm. Remove the SD card from the computer or reader and insert it in the camera. Follow the instructions on page 168 of the D5200 manual to reformat the SD card.

MY Top LCD does not turn on when camera is turned on?

If the rest of the camera gets power, then the usual cause is impact that breaks the LCD glass where it connects to the flexible circuit. As Nikon has stopped selling parts this is going to have to go to Nikon.

Turn the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest setting (largest f/number). You can control the aperture from the camera body, the same way as with a lens without an aperture ring.

USB Driver nikon D7000

Do you really want to use a driver? The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Flash on camera is not working

Hello. If you're shooting in Auto mode and you have turned off the flash, your camera will remember that setting and the flash will not fire. If you switch the dial on top of your camera to another mode and then back to auto it should clear the setting and the flash should now fire, if needed. The other thing to try is to hold down the the flash popup/mode button while, at the same time, turning the rear control dial. You can watch your top display and the flash modes should cycle through different options.

I think you are photographing in life view. I can't reproduce the error on my D7000. I don' think is has to do with the settings nor with the lens. If you think it has something to do with the settings, try to put the camera back to factory settings, by pressing both buttons marked with the green dots for 2 seconds. One button is on top, the +/- button and one is the Qual button. Be aware that you lose all settings. There are two other possibilities to reset settings, that are less changing, look it up in the manual. One is in the menu recording options and one in the menu personal settings. It says "FOR" on the bottom right screen on top o

FOR means format the card. Try formatting the new card (choose Format in the Menu) and see if it then works. If not you may have a problem with the card holder or the circuit. Replacement card holders are available on Fleabay but replacing the card holder requires definite skill at soldering. Replacing the circuit requires proprietary software that is only available at Nikon
