The external flash mount (hot shoe) has a small sliver of metal which when the external flash gun is slid on pushes it down to tell the body to not use the pop-up flash and some times the sliver doesn't return fully up to contact the underside of the hotshoe

I had the exact problem with the blinking top menu. I found that my memory card had gone bad. one i put in a fresh card the camera operated normally.

You do this in your editor. In photoshop you go Image -> Image Size and you'll see resolution set at 300 as default just change the 300 to 72.

U can checkout and replace the capacitor that powers the lamp when it goes off.

check whether the flash unit is struck, loosen with a film piece, just insert through the groove of the flash unit, this will help to loose the sticky lock from in side. if the popup relay circuit pbm you must open it check the circuit , the electromagnetic relay an related mechanism. beware of shock hazard from the capacitor.

Hi, totally open the camera, remove front portion, at the right side you can find the popup drive motor and related gears, try to loosen the gears struck if any, the power on , put full auto, push snap key, check whether flash popup, if not check the motor, first disconnect it, give a 3 volt at the motor terminal if rotating there may be problem in the circuitry, use digital multi tester to measure the voltages,

On the hot shoe when you fit a flashgun it pushes two tabs down to disengage the pop-up flash some times the tabs don't fully return after flashgun removal

Mode dial is set to an auto mode or the setting is set for flash photography. Change that and the built-in flash unit won't pop-up every time you press the shutter button.

It is a problem with them that if you fit a flash to the hotshoe that after a while the tabs under the hotshoe rails don't pop back up so you have to get a micro bladed screwdriver and GENTLY prize them up until they contact the rail then try the popup button again

I cannot give you a straight answer. It all depends. You cannot tell for sure what has happened and in which phase of the file writing things happened to go wrong. If it's just stuck there, it might be possible that it already finished writing but stays in a loop. What it does by writing is to first look in the FAT-table on the disc wich places can be used to write data. If it found area's, it starts writing and at the end it will update that same FAT-table that the space it occupies cannot be used anymore. If you stop in that proces, chances are that the FAT-table gets corrupted and the card will give an error when you try to read. No big problem as every disc tool can rebuild a FAT-table from the data thats been stored on the disc. If there was a more severe error that started overwriting data on the disc in a unpredictable manner, you're doomed. Either way, no other option than to remove the battery, remove the card an see what's the damage and try to recover the images...... Afterwards, just format the card and test it. Card may still work after that. Good luck!

Are you sure you did not put the AF/ MF switch in the wrong position? Although I don't think it would focus in Auto mode. In all other modes, are you sure you selected a (or more) focus point(s) in the centre of the frame? When the selected focus point is on the side of the frame it won't focus on the parts you want it to focus. Then while pointing to the point you want the camera to focus, please press the shutter release button half and what till it focusses. Then press it the whole way down. Be aware the camera needs enough light to focus and certainly can't focus with a lens wit a min aperture of 6 or a larger number. On your 18-135 you can shoot at f16 because it will first focus on wide open and only close the aperture after you pressed the button.
