Alert! unsupported memory configuration. Please populate DIMM1

There should be 4 DIMM slots - two with white tabs and two with black tabs. DIMM 1 should be the white tabbed slot closest to the processor. Slots 1 and 3 (both white tabbed slots) should have RAM installed first, then slots 3 and 4 for additional RAM. If Slot 1 already has RAM in it, pull it out and push it back in to reseat it. If that doesn't work, replace the RAM in Slot 1.

Beeping when you try to turn it on

Beeping usually means you have a memory problem. Try removing one memory stick at a time and power on to see which is defective.

Restarts continously

Does the system manage to boot at any point? If it does and there is a period before it restarts the system could be overheating. I would ensure all cooling fans and heatsinks are clear of dust/debris. If you are unable to boot to Windows, try starting in safe-mode. If you can start in safe-mode it will be a strong indication there is problem with your software. At this stage in safe-mode I would first of all try a system restore back to when my computer last worked, if you have no success I would then suggest a virus check/clean in safe-mode. If you find the system won't even start in safe-mode I would check your RAM is seated correctly, and if that doesn't solve your issue proceed to check/test all other components of the computer. Being a DELL if you press F12 during start up I believe you can ask the system to do a hardware diagnostic test.

Power light amber with code 3 and 4

Hi, Looks like Memory Issue, Memory modules are detected, but a memory power failure has occurred. You can try as follows :
  • If two or more memory modules are installed, remove the modules, then reinstall one module and restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, continue to install additional memory modules (one at a time) until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error. If only one memory module is installed, try moving it to a different DIMM connector and restart the computer.
  • If available, install verified working memory of the same type into your computer.
Let me know Thanks

Power supply malfunctioning

Most surge protection power boards will protect computer equipment from mains spikes and surges.A better and more expensive solution is to use an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). These units provide surge and spike protection and also provide power in the event of mains power failure.Make sure you select an UPS model that meet the power requirements of all your computer equipment that is connected to the UPS with a mains down time of say 1/2 hour to give you time to shut down your computer in an orderly manner.
