Are you sure you have an SD card (2GB or smaller)? The 508 won't work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

The DVR 508HD is a video camera, not a battery charger. As such it doesn't charge batteries at all. It uses three standard AAA batteries, either disposables or rechargeables. If you use rechargeables, they must be recharged outside the camera using a separate charger.

Yes, the camcorder will record for two hours. The two biggest limiting factors are the memory cards and the batteries. Depending on the resolution, you may need a second card. You may also need a fresh set of batteries.I don't know how a "basetball" game is organized, but if you're taping a baseball game, you should be able to swap memory cards and/or batteries between innings. If you're taping a basketball game, you should be able to do the same at halftime.

There is a small slider on the thin side of the card for lock/unlocking.If you have tried two new cards then the camera probably has a fault with it's detection sensor.That's a job for a camera tech.

Try formatting your card in the camera.Note: formatting will erase all the files.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

About an hour with AAA and around 2 1/2 for rechargeable.
