HI.

Routine maintenance and keeping full ink tanks will prevent this problem, however if you have the problem you can resolve it by doing the following:
1. Clean your print head using denatured alcohol solvent which can be purchased from most hardware stores. If unavailable, use 91% Alcohol (isopropyl alcohol (first aid antiseptic) which is available for less than a dollar at most Walmart pharmacy departments.

*Warning: You may want to use a pair of latex exam gloves as this is a messy process and can stain your fingers.
Time necessary 45-50 minutes
Supplies needed:
Isopropyl Alcohol or denatured alcohol
paper towels
latex gloves
sink, bowls and or basin
can of compressed air
very small screw driver
tablespoon or baby bulb type syringe
warm water

PROCEDURE:
1. Lift print head from printer. It pulls out easily because it is held in with the same down lever that holds the cartridge in place.
2. Put two layers of paper towels in the bottom of a dish to protect sensitive sprayer heads.
3.Put enough solvent in dish to cover the screens on which the cartridges sit when in use.
4. Take the two small screws out that hold the white ceramic piece
5. Gently, pry the ceramic piece back and away , to reveal the underside (No need to pull away the glued points on the sides.)
6. Gently, move head up and down to slosh solvent around it the best as you can. Use a table spoon or syringe to pour solvent over all orifices in the print head, turning it upside down and then back a few times.
7. Use canned air with a plastic straw to blow into and through all orifices, alternately sloshing/swishing and pouring solvent over head (be careful not to touch any of the holes, screens, or sprayer heads with anything)
8. Empty dirty solvent from bowl and replace with paper towels and clean solvent. Soak for approx 10 minutes. Rinse again with clean solvent poured directly on all parts, letting solvent overrun and fall into dish or basin.
9. Gently shake the solvent off the head, take it outside and spray with compressed air into all orifices to clear out and help evaporate any remaining solvent. Let sit on a clean paper towel for approx 20 minutes. (There may be a little ink bleeding out of the head, but once it dries completely it does not present any problems.
10. Reinstall head, cartridges and it will print like a new printer.

SUGGESTION: For many years of problem free printing, keep a double set of ink cartridges, one set full at all times. Whenever a cartridge runs out of ink, replace it IMMEDIATELY, with a new one or a refilled one. This gives the print head no chance to dry out and create clogged heads. Routine maintenance of cleaning the heads every 24 months does wonders for keeping your printer in new condition.

Hope this helps. .

I bought a new black cartridge and the chip will

Use the bypass option in the menu - MENU/ENGINE - and then bypass the replace cartridge. It's been awhile since I've done this - but I remember it's under MENU/ENGINE. When you do this both Ready and Error lights will flash - but printer will still print. This will get you by until you can buy a replacement.

For cost-cutting - check eBay. (smile)

Cardstock won't feed

You need to hand feed these things.....one at a time. I sometimes find that I have to "help" it a little bit to get it feed by putting just a bit of pressure on the paper to push it into the feeder. Another trick is to make sure the front edge is turned up just a bit. (I usually take about 10-15 pieces of cardstock and roll them, and then feed them one at a time) that seems to work pretty well, too

Error 2408

2408 means that the toner cartridge you are trying to rotate to is already in the top position or you need to install another toner cartridge before you can rotate to the color you want to replace.

To fix the toner not installed message clean the three contacts on green chip on the right side of the toner cartridge. You may see black lines on them. Use an eraser or rubbing alcohol.

I put the cartridge in per instructions, but

Remove the cartridge -- is there any clear tape or cardboard "spacer" that should be removed from a brand-new cartridge?

Re-insert it. There should be a "click" or a "clunk" as it settles into its position.

I am getting a white line on my pages that go from

A line all the way down the page means you have something blocking the imaging module like a bit of dirt or a piece of torn paper. Look in the area where the white line is, or it also could be toner being scraped off the page near the fuser, in that case you may see a smudge next to the line.

When I print in colour there is a white streak

- remove all cartridges
- clean all leaked powder on the cartrtidges and inside the 4 cartridge compartiments with a vacuum cleaner
(don't touch the powdered roll on the cartridge!)

- deep inside the printer you will see a glass-strip. You have to clean this strip carefully. Because of powder, that has leaked from the cartridges, the laser-beam is dimmed. This causes the white streak you mentioned!

Printer leaves two white lines when it prints.

I had a similar problem with my 2430DL only with one fairly prominent white line instead of two. I read troubleshooting tips in manual for this problem and first suggestion was to wipe laser lens clean with a soft cloth. I did this and no more white line! If you do not have your manual please email me and I can forward you PDF manual. [email protected]

How to rotate toner cartridges to replace K

Well on my 2430DL the release for the toner carousel is definitely not where komguy says it is. Open the top cover and on top of the printer case on the right hand side you will see a hole now exposed by opening the top cover. You think at first it is where the top cover latches into as it is more or less identically placed (but on the right) to where the top cover latch does latch into (on the left hand side).

Stick a pen or something into this hole and you will feel a some spring resistance - push down and the carousel will rotate until you can get access to each toner cartridge in turn.

Note that you can do this via the replace toner function on the LCD menu but for me I get the dreaded Err: Line 2474 error when I try to invoke the replace toner function and so I had to find a manual way of rotating the carousel.

The printer has started coming

First off how long have you owned the printer? How much use has the printer been through and when did these problems start. With the amount of problems you are having the unit you may want to consider replacing/upgrading the unit. Once I have more information I will be able to assist you further.
Thank you,

Konica-Minolta 2400W is printing very faint.

That could be a problem with either the fusor wire or just need to reset the darkness setting or you didn't gently shake the cartridge (or the toner was exposed to high humidity).

The fusor wire may not be getting hot enough to get all of the toner to stick to the paper and you get the faint page. The fusor assembly is wirth about $240 so you want to make sure if it might be covered by warranty and check the replacement price for the printer. The replacement price might be close to that and you would end up with a new printer with warranty.
