We changed the fuel pump in our 1997 Chevy
Check fuel pressure with a gauge should be up around 50ish if it is look at possibly a bad ignition switch- it may be allowing the pump to run but not allowing power to the ecm/coils. Also check fuse box for blown fuses.
Whats causing gas to get in the oil
Older engines had mechanical fuel pumps attached to the side of the engine and driven by a push rod. If the diaphragm in the fuel pump failed, gas could get into the engine crankcase and dilute the oil.
Why is there no heat in my 98 chevy Silverado?
The heat control opens a valve at the firewall typically found on the passenger side behind the glove box. If the rod connecting the heat level to the valve is broke, no hot water is directed from engine hotwater to the interior radiator of the truck which heats the cab.
96 5.0 chevy truck fuel out of tail pipe
You sure it isn't just water condensation from the exhaust pipes..It could smell like gas a little but it probably would run really really rough if it were very much gasoline. Not likely gas.
1997 silverado 5.7 calif.I keep getting an IAT sensor error code. I have changed out the sensor and the problem still comes back . Not always right away but within a couple of days my service engine
You didn't mention if this is an OBD I or an OBD II engine control system and how you trouble shoot is different. OBD II is more accurate with more readings given the technician to diagnose.
IAT is the intake air temp sensor which is located in the air flow meter housing where the air cleaner connects to the intake plenum on a multi-port fuel injection.
If its a OBD I a TBI (throttle body injection) the IAT is in the hose to the air cleaner intake. I will assume this is an OBD I PCM since you say you changed the IAT sensor. The PCM and many sensors will not set a code until engine is warm and in closed loop and may be why the delay after you start it. On an OBD I the PCM will set these codes less often are for shorts or opens in the sensor or wires to the PCM. You replaced the sensor so it may be in the wiring or black ground wire on the top of the eng near radiator hose connection on thermostat housing. Check the connector to IAT for 5 VDC at the plug with key on eng off. When the eng goes to closed loop the PCM grounds all the sensors internally to eng and body grounds outside the PCM. Check black wire on sensor plug to batt grnd or thermostat housing ground for continuity, tight, clean, and no resistance. If it is a constant IAT code then its more than likely a wiring or power problem. If there is no 5VDC to IAT sensor then it can be the PCM is bad or wiring from it. Checking continuity between the 2 wires from PCM will not work, internal diodes and transistors in PCM will be open.
Before closed loop the PCM fuel management it programed to simulate a closed choke air flow with more fuel added for cold eng operation and the only sensor in use is the IAC motor, CTS, and TPS. The O2 and other sensors stay ungrounded for open loop.
Most I&M test machines check for check eng light and will not continue its test until the CEL stays off.
Hope this helps, bob
Idles high all the time
are you throwing a code ? if not try checking your "idle air control valve". if its not that, you may have a slight vacuum leak somewhere.
How to reset automatic sliding door on chevy venture van
The rear side door actuator control modules monitor the power sliding door positions at all times. Whenever the battery positive voltage supply to a rear side door actuator control module has been removed or the on-board diagnostics have been activated the power sliding door system(s) must be re-initialized. Re-initialize the right or left power sliding door systems using the following steps:
- Turn the ON/OFF switch for the power sliding door system to be re-initialized to the OFF position.
- Manually open the power sliding door completely.
- Manually close and latch the power sliding door.
- Turn the power sliding door ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
- Open the power sliding door completely using the B-pillar or overhead console OPEN/CLOSE switch.
- Close the power sliding door completely using the B-pillar or overhead console OPEN/CLOSE switch.
