This sounds like when the drivers were installed they were installed with the option of "just this user" instead of all or any users. You can try running the install software again and switch it if it lets you. If not you will need o uninstall it then re install with all users selected. I got a usb cable from them next day delivery. They seem to have spares for just about everything

The driver is the software which enables the laptop to communicate with the camera. It will have been installed when you installed the software from the CD which came with the camera.

It is a Micro 5 pin USB.
