FAILURE TO READ DISCS. TECHNICS SL-DV280 (SC-DV280)
if the disc starts to rotate when helped by hand then you definately have a weak spindle motor. dvds spin faster than cds which gives more wear & tear to the motor. i've repaired these faults numerous times. hope this helps?

Have just encountered an older (abt 15 years)
Doesn't matter what order the 3.5mm are wired up in. As long as one connects to another in a daisy chain, data will jump from one to the other to give remote operation or auto source changing

Hi my technics hifi is playing up, it turns on but
hi mate, the sound processer has packed up, mines done exactly the same thing, i've taken it in to a panasonic technics specialist and the verdict is just that. i've confirmed it by swapping the sound processor with one off a friends stereo and mine came back to life. Hope that helps mate.

My stereo is not accepting any disc just saying no
It is quite possible that your CD player is having the optical unit faulty. So the only way to go about is to replace the unit. You can try to clean the lens on the optical head by using a good swab, preferably a cotton bud. If this wont clear get help to change the optical unit with the original replaccement. Hope you try. Good day

My techincs dvd stereo will not power up
does it come on then click & go off? if so the boards gone in the amp & they've been discontinued so you can't order one.
But other than that, silly question but have you checked the fuse in the plug.or just do what i did & get a second hand amp the SA-DV280 works just the same as the 290.

'stereo' speaker problems
Yer man there a load of **** i've got 2 x DV290's one for the back of my studio & one powering the front, your lucky you only had 2 **** speakers i had 4 lol.
but there is light at the end of the woofer, they have to be wired together its as if one makes the other one work,so you put GRAY & BLUE in you get BASS or hum ,you put BLACK & RED in you get HIGH or top end you put all four in you get nice mixture.
I've also had it another by mistake & it worked, i put the + & - side by side instead of top & bottom so it was RED / GRAY & BLACK / BLUE if you know what i mean.then cut the plugs off the surrounds & wired them in aswell & it's all good in de hood.
oh a tip before i go,get some rubber legs off the bottom of something or the casters off an old chair or stool & GET THEM SLAPPED BETWEEN THE AMP & THE SOUND PROCESSOR for ventilation coz Fu*"*k me they don't half get hot man!
good luck pal....later
