Unit is locked
Take the 4 screws from the sides and the two in the top back of the unit. What has probably happened is that you have a cd laying on the bottom of the unit and the arm can not make the entire sweep.
cdt
Scratched cds
anything can be repaired . with enough money and time anyways..
I don't understand why the discs would be getting scratched though.... the only thing that touches the readable surface is a laser.
Maybe the unit is just dirty. Call a local repair shop and ask how much to clean it up... I had a CD jukebox with a 600 disc changer cleaned for under $100 not long ago.
Small cable with spring attached not attached to unit
Hi,
The cable does run acroos those 4 rollers on the CD drive unit. The cable is staticly attached on the right side (unit facing you) of the carrier rack, routes under the lower rifght roller, up and outside of the top right roller, across and outside the top left roller, then down and inside the lower left roller.
From there, it routes across the carrier to a small hook (black plastic). Under that hook and then up to the spring.
I can send pictures if you need them. I have this same unit with a carrier that will not fully eject the CDs. I have been in this case more than once.
