Reliance on the remote instead of walking across the room to touch the unit will not solve anything. On many receivers, Muting is cancelled if the volume knob is turned to a louder level. Try that.

The system has detected a fault in the output section. How much are you asking of the system? Greater than 50%? That will push most systems to their limit in a short period of time...accordianman

Failure of the sound processor. All you can do is to remove the cover, clean the insides, check the cables to make sure they are still firmly plugged in and then measure the 5 volts power line from the source. If all appears OK the the processor has died - a replacement board is mandatory. It will be cheaper to buy a new receiver .

SA-DX750 (sister Model to SA-DX850). Showing error code F70, after a few minutes running. Checking the power rails revealed +5VA and +5VD, on the Digital Circuit Board 'A', dropping to about 2V, when fault occured. F5, T1A, on the Sub-Transformer Circuit 'M', was subject to occasional blowing. The problem was traced to an intermittent break, in the printed circuit board conductor, in the vicinity of Q1702 (+5VD regulator) collector, on the Digital Circuit Board 'A'.. Repairing this cured the problem. Note that removing F5 (above), or disconnecting CN702, CN1000A or CN904B, on the Digital Circuit board 'A', also causes this error code to be displayed. Failure of the audio output ICs, IC651 & IC801, is apparently the usual reason for this error code being dsiplayed, but it is worth checking the power rails viz. +/- 25V (Fuses F3 & F4, T6.3A, on Sub-Transformer Circuit 'M') +/- 55V, +/- 14V etc.

Operating instructions says it is "F 70" ( Not F 10 ). When it appears it says to turn the unit off, disconnect the AC power supply cord, then reconnect and turn the unit on. Consult your dealer if "F-70" remains on the display.

Unplug and open up the unit, and check the internal fuses on the circuit board. Also check for proper speaker wire hook up. Re-seat the connections. Visibly check the speaker wire runs for shorts, cracked casing, cat/dog chewing. etc.

You must have air flow through this unit!...accordianman

Could be one channel has failed in the amplifier caused by 40 year old components failing. Could be a shorted speaker lead, damaging the amplifier. Job to say without seeing it on the work bench with test gear.

I would check the weight and allignment.

The cueing mechanism should lift and lower the tone arm regardless of whether there is oil in the cylinder or not. The silicon oil is used to dampen the movement. If the lever does not operate the tonearm, then there is mechanical damage under the platter.

Were you expecting an electronic powered unit to work without power ... No power = No output.

Question edited for spelling and add some SPACES! Did you look for bulging electrolytic capacitors? If you can't see any, then you need to take it to a service centre, as they have thousands of dollars of test equipment and access to parts. ..
