Technics SA-EX320 Receiver Questions & Answers
We have had a Technics stereo for 16 years and
Disconnect the speaker wires at the receiver, turn up the volume, if it goes into protection, it's an internal problem and needs service. If it does not go into protection, re connect one speaker at a time and test. If it shuts down check the speaker itself, if they are as old as the receiver, chances are good that the surrounds on the speakers themselves have disintegrated. Older speakers used foam surrounds, newer ones use rubber or plastic composite material that will not disintegrate. What will happen is dust and moisture will get into the voice coil and cause a short, even though the speaker still plays. Hope this helps. If you need more help or just advice, post a comment, and I'll help if I can

Bad sound when running signals through
I would guess that the switching chip is faulty inside the receiver. Since the CD works OK, the amplifier section and pre-amp section are good. What you are hearing with the others is crosstalk. This chip shouldn't be more than about $10-$15. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost. I think that the chip for your model is a TC9163.

Technics RS-BX501 cassette deck door won't open
If you feel confident doing so, you could attempt to open the cassette deck and physically examine the gears to check for damage or debris that might be obstructing them.
But do remember that there are risks involved when opening electronic equipment, especially if you're not used with doing this kind of work. If you're not sure you can do this securely, it would be preferable to get assistance from a qualified audio equipment repair specialist.
