Hi, I have a Technics SA-DX1050

I would fair better if I could tinker with your system in person, lol. I'm in no way an expert, I am just the one my family always has set up our new stereo systems. Mainly, I have the patience to read through the manuals, is all. ;) When I read your question though, what first thing that came to mind...are your settings. It's possible that some 5.1 surround is on or off, or maybe concert hall, or something to that affect. There's probably much more capability to your system than what you may be aware of. If you have the manual, try reading through it. It's always amazing what even coffee makers can do, that you wouldn't know unless you read the manual. ;) Then try systematically going through your settings. Whatever function is first, start there, select it and run through the submenu that comes up...even if you don't need to change your fade or balance...it's good to take it to its limits and wipe them away, just to know how it changes the sound and performance. Bose Acoustimass systems are the S__t! :o If your home has decent acoustics, you will have superior sound for a long time to come. :) Big fan of Bose, my entire family is. But, back to your settings...start on whatever your system displays first, run through it's submenu, set it to how you like it, then move on to the next function. I'm sorry I can't give you technical, specific info, but just from a laypersons experience, this should locate why your fronts are not on. It's definitely a setting...I just wish I could nail it for you to make it easier. Anyhoo...good luck! I hope a mom's 2 cents, from Southern Cali, helps alil!

Technics sa-dx1050 overload

if any one of the channels was shorted out, even momentarily, that channel's output transistors would likely be blown causing it to stay in protection mode. (or overload as you put it). Time to visit the repair shop.

Trying to hook up Amphony

I'd suggest you try the basic speaker setup routine with tones to be sure all speakers work and none are shorted.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on; or it may turn on but produce no audio to the speakers.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as another possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

The display says F-10.Turn of

It is not so easy to probe into to find a protection fault condition. The fault can be your output drivers- the mosfets fitted for both the channels, Use a meter after disconnecting to check for short in the drivers. Disconnect the positive and negative voltages to the output and see if the protect changes.
If so replace the outputs. If not there can be issues in the mother board, maybe the protect circuit by itself is shutting off due to a faulty bias , maybe a leak in any voltage/current sensing circuit. Also disconnect the speakers and test, if the protect is off then check for short on the speakers.

My receiver is cutting out

First thing to check is your speakers. If you have on bad/ going bad it will cause the receiver to be overworked and shut down. disconnect all the speakers and turn the reciver on. if you still have an issue, it is the receiver. if it stays on, start testing speakers. use an ohm meter and test each one. they should each read above 4 ohms. if you don't have a meter, you can use the following method although it is less effective. start connecting the speakers one at a time. turn up the volume and let it play for a few minutes. when the offending speaker is connected, the receiver should cut out.

When i turn on the

hi there,
This is a problem related to the out put section, try disconnecting alls the speakers from the receiver and turning on the unit. If your unit comes on then mostly any of your speaker or associated cabling is getting shorted . If the same problem persists then usually the amplifier needs service attention, refer to a qualified engineer.
