It sounds to me like a scam. The microsoft key... usually called the windows key + R will bring up a run window. That is harmless in itself and you can simply click cancel. But the caller would probably give you a command to enter in the window as the next step. Do not do that. The caller may be trying in install malware. Or the caller may try to give your system a useful tune-up and charge you a ridiculous price for that. Either way it's trouble.

you can try to reboot the comp and while it is rebooting hit the F2 key repeatedly that should bring up the bios and you can (maybe ) shut down the need for a password the only other way i know of is to remove the small battery (looks like a watch battery ) , unplug the computer and hold the on off switch in (while unplugged ) for about 15 to 30 seconds . then re insert the battery and plug it in and turn it on . might reset bios password .

in safe mode, click the start button and then "run" In the "run" window type: msconfig and then hit enter or ok. You should now see a "system configuration" screen, at the top are several tabs and one should be labeled "Boot" Near the bottom of the window should be several box's you can check or un-check, most likely your safe boot option is checked. So un-check safe boot (don't think anything should have check marks in them) and then hit OK. Windows should then ask you if you want to restart. Once restarted you should be in normal windows :)

Exactly what are you trying to do here? Are you trying to uninstall windows? Have you got a copy of XP on your hard drive that you want on a DVD? It is impossible to uninstall XP onto a disk, or any media. Do you know that support for Windows XP is no longer available and you will get no updates, security or driver support.
