I can tell you that throwing parts at a mechanical or electrical problem that you have not properly diagnosed is like playing the lottery (crappy odds). I assume you are talking about a starter solenoid. how 'bout checking to see if its bad. Step 1: check battery (I said check not replace). Step 2: Find the solenoid and make sure its getting power. There should be 2 pretty thick cables connected to it and one smaller wire. 1 of the large cables should be hot at all times, the other large cable should ground through the starter, and the little wire is the "signal" wire from your ignition switch. The signal wire is only hot when your turning the key to crank the starter. Step 3: If you've got power to 1 big cable, and ground at the other big cable then find something conductive that is at least as thick as the cables (i use a wrench, screwdriver, pliers... whatever) and touch it to both terminals for about 1-2 seconds (where the cables connect to the solenoid). Be warned, there will be some sparks, and the tool may stick to the terminals (weld itself) a little. You are effectively bypassing (jumping) the solenoid by closing the connection with a tool. If it cranks while jumping the solenoid, and you are getting voltage on the signal wire, then you need a solenoid.

4.6 Northstar V8. It is located on the rear of engine (driver side) in front. It is in the the water pump housing cover. Remove air box and intake tube and bottom radiator hose. 2 bolts(believe 10mm) on thermostat housing. These systems are a little finicky about air pockets....so fill slowly and let run at idle until operating temp and let cool and check level.....fill as needed and repeat if needed.
