Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z20 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
How to initalize a new photo card
In the setup menu (wrench logo) first page second line is format.
Click on that and then answer the question Format? with yes.
That is all.
New cards, but also cards used in other cameras, should be formatted, before you start shooting pictures.
How to transfer memory card to computer
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.
MEMORY CARD SAYS ITS LOCKED
SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
Shutter release is slow, I press the shutter
To get it to instantly take the picture, you must press the button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep)...then when the moment is right, press the rest of the way.
My Dimage Z20 can't upload photos onto my computer
It could be - or it could be a problem with the PC.
Connect the camera to the pc, go into device manager (right+click on My Computer> down to Device Manager) and see if it is registering a problem.
Delete the camera from device manager (highlight it, press DEL), disconnect the camera from the PC. Power cycle the camera, then connect it back up - you should see the computer finding the camera again.
If not, check a different computer or buy a new cable,
Toggle between LCD & Viewfinder
You're not alone. It's an epidemic. With some people it lasted only about 8 flips between LCD and viewfinder. It's especialy a problem with the Z series.
If you still can, send it for repair on warranty, otherwise you'll either have to live with it or find a place that can handle this repair.
Good luck
HELP
I have a Z2 and Z3 and I've never had that problem. I will assume that the batteries are in their proper positions and that the terminals are clean. With this assumption I would suggest you bring it in for repairs. Something w/ the power supply, switch and possibly program, which I don't think us ordinary people can repair. Sorry I can't suggest much more.
Lost lens cap
I would sugest using an adaptor ring. You can reduce the size of your lens opening down a common size lens cap that will fit your camera. If you can't go this route then give me the make and model number and I will see what I can do for you.
