What type and size of memory card are you trying to use? The Z2 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB and smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.
When using the flash no
Sounds like a short in the flash circuit. The repair won't be cheap. Get an estimate and decide if it's worth the expense.
Hi. I have a Dimage Z2 and I lost the front part
I have a very similar problem: The part is scratched at my camera.
I called the people here: http://support.sony-europe.com/DIME/KM/km.aspx?l=en
and was told that the parts are not available new, but they send me a good one from a used camera. The name is "front lense".
So good luck!
Whenever I put batteries in the camera it won't
The manual indicates that the camera should be able to use either alkaline or rechargeable AA size batteries.
Make sure that you are observing proper polarity of the battery as they are installed. Also double check the battery door. There should be 2 small metal strips that make contact with the batteries as well.
If polarity is being observed (see manual to double check), and the metal strips are both present, then it is likely that one of the contacts on the battery door or inside the camera are corroded, or perhaps broken. In either case, contact Minolta for repair assistance, or battery door replacement.
I need a service manual for the Dimage z2 Digital camera
Hi,
Right, this is the info that you need. To remove and replace the battery door you need to follow 15 steps in the correct order, they are:
Remove the two screws (above lens) that hold on the flash cover.
Remove the flash cover
Remove the three screws on the view finder cover
Remove the view finder cover
Remove the two screws on the side of the battery compartment
Remove the two screws in the middle of the base of the camera
Remove the sliding cover on the left hand side of the lens
Remove the single screw on the left hand (curved) part of the camera case
Remove the single screw on the bottom left hand side of the casing
Remove the trim piece on the right of the camera next to the lens, the top has a sticky pad under it so will be difficult to lift up.
Remove the screw behind the trim plate
Remove the back casing
The flap should now be replaceable, if you do not feel comfortable with this then get a professional shop to do it.
Konica Minolta Z2 SDHC reading card
Spare yourself the trouble. I had researched it (I thought) and got one, and stuck it in. The screen read: "Unable to use," It continued to read this, even after I formatted the card, so I ended up giving it to my brother, who has a Kodak camera. Sorry!
My konica minolta Dimage z2 doesn't focus
Your problem may be that the camera is "locked" on manual focus. If so, you will need to go to the menu, scroll to "2" menu in "P" mode, and click on "focusing mode". From there, hit "single focus or continuous focus." It should correct the problem. Also, is the lens dirty? A dirty lens will not benefit the camera. The light may be too low, also. Try using a flashlight to focus, then take the picture.
Z2 lens cleaning - wet marks
Hi there and welcome to FixYa.
No matter if your the casual user, or someone wanting the best for their investment. Here is the proper way to clean a lens.
You will need: a Blowerbrush, a microfiber cloth, your breath, and if you managed to get serious grease on your lens; a bottle of good quality lens cleaner (the purer the better).
1)Get a blowerbrush. In case your unaware of what a blower brush is, It has a bulb on one end and a brush on the other end.
Brush/blow the dust particles from the lens.
2) Breath on your lense element so it's foggy.
3) Wipe the fog off your lens with the cloth. Do not rub the element! You just want to wipe. It may take a few wipes to get it clean.
4) If after a few wipes, and you still have spots: put a few drops of lens cleaner on the cloth and using circle motion, start wiping from the center of the lens to the outer most part of the lens. Remember...wipe, don't rub.
When your done, hit it with your breath again and a few wipes of a dry portion of your microfiber cloth.
That will be about it. Thanks for coming to FixYa.

CF Card won't read in camera
Hi and thanks for coming to FixYa.
The proper card for your camera is an SD (Secure Digital) card. It won't take a CF (Compact Flash) card.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Looking for z2 battery door
I ordered a new battery comparment door from Sony online who bought all the Minolta brand parts and technical support services. It was $35.00 plus S/H. I am trying to self-install it but failed after my first attempt. I downloaded some tips from someone else off this websit who did it so I will re-attempt again soon using their steps. Wish me luck. It's a great camera but I heard it would cost $181 to repair it so I'd rather try it myself first.
When linked to my lap top wont retreive the images , worked grand yesterday
if you haven't tried to reload the software do that first. i could be a messed up driver if that doesn't work try a different USB cable. USB cables are notorious about going out when it is with a a device that is plugged and unplugged often. my phone acted the same way with a bad cable. replaced cable and it worked great.
