Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 Digital Camera - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
From the start, the camera has been very heavy on
First of all, referencing a 'previous mail' is of little use - at Fixya, posts are made on forums when requesting assistance.
Secondly, you say 'even re-chargeable batteries' - not all re-chargeable batteries are alike. Many people recommend the use of 2500mAh re-chargeable batteries to provide power to cameras.
Thirdly, I cannot comment on the suggestion there may be a fault with this particular model - a Google search may provide more information on this matter.
I need a manual
you can get one from the web , I typed in pdf manual for my Diamage camera and a list of Konica models came up and I clicked on the one I wanted and it was down loaded in about a minute . Hope this helps you.
How do i un-jam my camera ?
You may have the wrong battery, not fully charged battery or battery is not in correctly. There should be a reset button on your camera. Try holding it down for 30 secs then release. If these solutions do not work: take your camera back to where you bought it. Could be defective (crash of internal computer)
Red light flashes but camera will not stay on
When the red LED goes on. the batteries are empty. When the LED is flashing, it is even worse.
Your camera will work with AA batteries.
Always be sure the batteries are charged.
Insert the batteries correct plus to plus and minus to minus. Only one battery the wrong way around and the camera won't work.
Check contacts of the batteries and in the battery compartment of your camera. Dirty or oxidised contacts can be cleaned with a dry cloth. Never use sharp tools to clean contacts or anything in or on your camera.
Always charge the batteries before using it for the first time, or if you have not used it for a long period. 3 months is a very long period.
Also check if the battery door is closed correct. Most cameras do have a switch connected to the battery door. If the switch does not work correct, it could be you can't switch on your camera.
Do not use alkaline batteries unless it is absolutely necessary. In most cases, alkaline batteries have a shorter service life than NiMH. Alkaline battery performance is limited, especially at low temperatures. The use of NiMH batteries is recommended.
Never use manganese (Zinc-Carbon) batteries in your camera. They can't deliver enough power and can start leaking, causing damage to your camera.
Getting a black spot on one corner of picture. Any
It is not unusual for a camera's sensor to have a pixel fail this way. Most sensors consist of 100's of thousands or more pixels that make up the sensor. Each responds to the color and intensity of the light projected upon it by the lens. It sounds like a pixel on your sensor has failed and is "dead" or "stuck" in a dark state. Pixels can fail "hot" on a single color, too.The bad news is that it is not possible to fix a stuck pixel. The sensor itself is the smallest replaceable part and is often times not worth the expense of replacing. Compare costs of replacing the part vs the cost of replacing the camera and decide which way to go to be sure.I did see some Minolta specific info that you might want to look at first
here. The good news is that there is software that will allow you to mask the pixel. Google search for "stuck pixel software" for a list of results. The software analyzes the pixels around the non-functioning pixel, and makes it a color that is far less likely to be noticed. Other software may perform functions that restore functionality to the pixel and others still that do something else. I am unsure of how well the former methods work or how long they might work. Software that changes the output file is the type I used and it seemed to work well. Each file needed to be run thru the software to make the change however.Good luck!
I dropped my Z3 and broke the battery door. Where
Unfortunately, you can't get new spares. Your camera is an obsolete model and Sony (took over Konica Minolta) no longer support the model nor do they retain spare parts.
Your only option is to look on auction websites for a broken example, or to even ask on your local FreeCycle and Freegle groups. But if you do buy a spares donor make sure to ask whether the part you need is functional and present. After taking what you need you can try reselling what's left. I often find that by doing so I get virtually free spare parts.
Konica minolta dimage z3 4mp digital camera firmware 1.3u can't find the software to download
You don't need any software. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.
My Dimage Z3 camera shuts down on a 'system
Hi , just solved, I think the very same problem that you have with your Z3. I got the some of the solution on a similar web site. Here's what worked for me. I connected my Z3 to my PC in the normal way. When I turned it on it stayed on and did not immediately cut off. I was able to see all the photo's on the 1gig card. Some were corrupted and there was a lot of duplication. I was able to download all the photo's onto the PC. Once I was sure they were there I was now able to format the card by using the PC. This seems to have solved the problem for me.
I think that I may have caused the problem by trying to download photos when I may have had to much vino to drink!!!!!!! I ended up duplicating photo's instead of downloading them and trying to stop this in mid-stream may have caused the camera to ingest a gremlin. Also the battery ran low when trying to download and cut the camera off. Hope that this works for you.
