Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 Digital Camera - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Dimage Z3 System error
plug it in, right click on it in my computer and select format, tick the quick format box and start it up! this will sort it out, i believe the problem is caused by incorrectly disconnecting the camera from a pc/laptop, so when you next disconnect make sure you safely remove it (right click in my computer, select safely remove)
Sd memory card
this camera with firmware below 1.03 has a problem with 2gb cards , i recommend 1 gb cards ( i have tried many until now it never stopt working ..so yes go back to where you bought the card (not accidentaly switched the white write protect switch ?? )

Minolta za camera parts
Contact Sony they purchased Minolta a few years ago and have the remaining parts for the Dimage series cameras
"Hub Overload"
If you are using a USB hub then Konica-Minolta has a warning that this problem may occur. If the USB interface is drawing too much power due to a circuit fault then you might try just uploading pictures from the memory card as a workaround. Also MMC cards work differently than SD cards so a card swap is worth trying or using an AV connector instead of a USB connector.
Moon
The lens elements or aperature have become misaligned or stuck. You might try selecting various focus and digital/analog zoom mode settings.
Date and Time
Yes! Just like a laptop there is an RTC battery inside. Konica-Minolta says that it is a service facility task and that is because it's connections are soldered. If you have an adventurous streak or a competent electronics technician you can trust you can carefully explore inside but like a laptop repair it is not a good project for a brick layer. Any camera repair tech can handle the task and the battery may be non-standard.
Only works in playback mode
If when switching from playback to LCD then Viewfinder and no preview display is visible in either LCD nor viewfinder then the switch is not switching. If the red battery light is on try new batteries as some functions are unavailable with low battery power or connect the AC adaptor to see if power is a problem. Does the menu work? Does the zoom function move the lens? If all is functional in the playback mode then the switch may not be making contact internally. Carefully apply pressure to the switch while slowly moving it between all 3 positions while seeing if any display changes both through the viewfinder and the LCD. If you are technically confident you can open the camera case and try bridging the switch poles with a small screw driver to see if the switch is defective or misaligned. EBay has had DiMAGE cameras listed for 'parts only' very cheap but the Z3 would not merit the cost of a camera repair shop. My last successful bid for a Z6 was $200 2 years ago. My first repair on a digital camera was pretty simple since inside the case is a single printed circuit board with little ribbon connectors that can be reseated at ZIF type connectors. Just be careful, slow and keep track of the screws and parts orientation. Any friend who fixes laptops can help you but a shop will cost you more than the camera is worth. Good luck.
No image
well perhaps you forgot to switch it to the playback mode (red switch on the power ) in the record mode you have to choose between lcd and viewfinder . further more it is possible to switch the display off .
the camera needs enough power i reccommend 2500 NIMH

Battery compartment cover lug broken
OK this is a design flaw. If you fix it or have it fixed with Minolta/Cannon supplied parts, it will break again. I use gaffers tape which has left a nasty residue onn the camera body but keeps me shooting. love the camera, despise the battery cover.
