Shutter release problem
Try removing the lens and the battery and leaving it for 24 hours - this can happen when the gremlins get into the works !

Either the development house you took it to is not reliable, you're shooting out of date film, or in bad light.
Remember that film is designed only to look good in sunlight outside. They sell colored filters you can place on the front of your camera if you need to shoot inside without the colors looking off.
AaaaaaaaaaaaAFTER TAKING PICTURES IN DOORS WHY
typically this is a problem with flash photography.
are you using flash?
the speed of exposure, the time that the film is exposed is controlled by two curtains that cover the film and prevent light from striking it. One curtain is across the film at the start, and springs open, then the second which was open, springs shut.
for 'long' exposures the first one opens time passes and then the second closes, but to achieve very short times, the second curtain starts to close before the first one has fully cleared the opening. so the edge of the second curtain can be traveling fractions of a second behind the first.
the result is that NOT ALL OF YOUR FILM is exposed to light at the same instant. If you have a flash go off during a fast exposure, only that portion of film that is exposes when the flash fires will get the proper amount of light, the rest of the film being blocked by a curtain. Most cameras are wired to fire the flash as soon as the first curtain is fully open and before the second starts to close. If you have a faster speed set in your camera by mistake, the second curtain has already started to close when the flash goes off. The black area on the right side is that portion of film that was already covered by that second curtain when the flash fired.
if you have the camera set correctly (typically at 1/60th or 1/100th sec) then maybe you should take the camera to a local camera store, and have the curtains timed...
Maxxum 5
The Maxxum 5 manual describes the fix in the technical section at the end of the manual. It must be a comon problem. Thank you Minolta for putting in the manual excape mechanism.
Maxxum 5 broken battery door
I use US Camera on the internet. They have a huge inventory of parts and work pretty well with the do-it-yourselfer.
For the Maxxum 5:

Need remte cord, minalta maxxum 5
The remote cord came in 2 versions: rc-1000s is 50cm (about 19 inches) and rc-1000l is longer at 5m (about 16 feet). Both are discontinued, but KEH.com lists an rc-1000l used right now for $13.00 US. Their stock changes daily. Its a reputable store. You could also check eBay or a local camera store.
No start
Regrettably, if it the camera won't power on and is showing acid corrosion on the battery door, then the camera is well and truly dead. The battery door won't have been the only thing corroded by the battery acid -- it has more than likely migrated to the internal circuitry and damaged it irreparably.
When I look through the viewfinder of my camera I see blue streak
This isn't really a solution, but when I check "I have similar problem", it takes me to a different page all together. The first time I heard about a blue glow in the viewfinders of late-model Maxxums was in reading an eBay guide written by J.D. Katz. I didn't really believe him until my own Maxxums started doing it. Apparently Maxxums 3, 4, 5, GT, QTsi, STsi, HTsi, XTsi and probably the 50 and 70 are susceptible. All were assembled in either Malaysia or China and all have penta-mirror viewfinders. Both my Maxxum 5 and my XTsi just recently started doing it: the 5 has sapphire-blue streaks on either side of the viewfinder; the XTsi's viewfinder has just a faint blue haze. Probably some coating on the glass inside the viewfinder is breaking down with age. It's a shame because they are otherwise excellent cameras. While it is an annoyance, it is confined to the viewfinder and should not affect the images taken. Probably won't have much luck getting Sony to do anything about it either, since they're film cameras and they're getting old....
