Try going to Yahoo's account recovery page: https://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot
That should resolve issues with username and password, and help you login to hacked / compromised accounts.

When you send/receive an instant message and no message appears, you probably have scripting disabled in your Internet Explorer.

To enable scripting:

1. Click the "Tools" menu on your Internet Explorer toolbar and select "Internet Options."
2. Click the "Security" tab.
3. Click the Internet (globe) icon and click the "Custom Level" button.
4. Scroll down to "Scripting."
5. Enable the following:
   • Active scripting
   • Allow paste operations via script
   • Scripting of Java applets are all enabled
6. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the window.

Note: Restart Yahoo! Messenger and you should start seeing text in your IM windows again.

Some virus can cause this bug in Yahoo Messenger. Check your Internet Options, go to Security Tab, and see if there is a new item. Normal items there are Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted sites, and Restricted sites. If you see a new item, chances are you were hit by a virus.

There should only be 5 items there, numbered 0 to 4. If you see a different one, especially if you see items that shows up as box, try deleting it. (Backup your registry first). If I were you, I would download a program called Malwarebytes and run it on your machine. You may have to go into safemode to run it. Install it and let run, then remove anything it found.
