There is no way to know for sure unless you test for Fuel and Spark while it is still hot. The engine restarts after it cools. This could be fuel supply, engine temperature, or spark. How is the maintenance? do you have the engine tuned up, oil and filters changed as needed? Please take a look at the tractors service history and let me know. Good Luck.

Check your blades, if the "wings" are missing from the blades there is not sufficient airflow to move the grass. If they are good, clean from beneath the deck.

There should be a flat piece of metal sticking down from bottom of mower and a slot on the clutch that slides over the flat piece of metal so it can not spin and wind up the wiring. Years ago they just used a section of dog chain to hook it so it could not spin. I have noticed that some clutches have more the one slot so maybe you need to slide it down off the crankshaft and turn it to line up with another slot to help with your problem .

Sounds like you may have a bad spark plug or coil..first remove the plug wire from the one not firing..using a rubber handled pliers hold the plug wire close to the plug tip or any metal part of the motor..and crank engine if you see a spark it most likely is the plug..pull the plug out and place the wire back on and do the same thing holding the plug close to the metal, if no spark change the plug..if none coil is bad..just follow the plug wire back to its beginning..the coil. It is attached by two bolts or screws,,check and see if they are tight and there is space between the coil and the flywheel..if it is loose or no space reset the clearance by using a business card as a gauge between the coil and flywheel and retighten and check for spark..If everything iis tight and clearance is ok..remove the coil and replace with a new..use the business card as a gauge...good luck.

check your fuel source, and spark if all is ok than you need to change your flywheel key.

Try adding a product called Sta-bil to the gas. Often when an engine sits for a long time the gas gels. The Sta-bil will dissolve the gel and varnish from the fuel system. I would also replace the spark plug, they corrode when sitting for long periods and will not spark well under compression.

start by disengaging the blade and putting the deck to it's highest position, prior to attempting to start the mower inspect under the mower deck making sure there is no Debee wedged interfering with the blade rotation, check your spindle's for play and inspect your mower and drive belts. once complete than give it a try. if by chance it does start but turns over you more than likely sheered the flywheel key.

Clayton I know this sounds stupid but when you sit on your seat make sure your safety switch is actually being pushed down because if it runs while brake is on the switch doesn't need to be pushed if it shuts off soons as you let off the brake sounds like it's not being pushed in or needs to be replaced seen it many times.

with a peice of hose and siphon it out

remove the top cover from the engine then the small wire to the coil crank it and check for spark if you have spark with the wire off check your safety switch on the brake/brake pedal it is a dual switch so it can crank and still not fire if there is no spark with the small wire off the coil is bad

I had the same problem on my 18HP Poulan Pro. The bolts that hold the mufflerin place had loosened. Tightening them down fixed the problem.
