CCD failure due to moisture and condensation dont worry they may repair it free of charge bcoz many products are affected by BAD CCD world wide Pentax is also on the list they have also issued service advisory for some models even if u are out of warranty dont quit here just contact Penta on the following page and get it repaired free even if ur camera is not on list they will do it free other companys are also doing it

Largest card for the Optio 60 is 2GB. The camera is not able to take 4GB and larger SDHC type cards. If I answered the question to your satisfaction, don't forget to rate it. Thanks

1. Secure the camera to a tripod or place it on a stable surface.
2. Rotate the mode dial to [S], [P], [PICT], [AV], or [M]
3. Press the Power button turn on the Camera.
4. Press arrow [>] .
5. Use up arrow or down arrow to select the desired self-timer mode.
6. Compose your scene and press the shutter button.

• The self-timer function is activated.
• The photograph is then taken after the preset time.
• To cancel the self-timer at any time, press the shutter button.

After one shot is taken, the self-timer mode is turned off.
If you wish to take another image using the self-timer, repeat these steps.

If properly captured pictures can be played back fine ( quality is ok ) but images look 'noisy' i.e. color and resolution not what it should be then your camera has a faulty CCD sensor. Ask Pentax if they do this model with this problem free of charge ( most manufacturers repair CCD problems free of charge ).

hmmmm? try diffent new set of battiers I found bad brand new batteries before. also notice the + and - (- is bottom of battery) and make sure bat. door is snugly closed. other than that your camera just broke down. Murphy's law good luck

If the camera still works OK otherwise -- you caN BYPASS THE PROBLEM with coimputer recognition simply by removing the SD card, and reading it directly. Most notebooks have a slot for plugging in an SD card. Otherwise -- there are some very cheap SD card readers (<$5.00) -- insert your card, plug into USB Port, then (on Windows) select "Open Windows Explorer" select and copy your digital images to your PC.

Sounds like a bad microchip on the camera system board. Replace the system board.

load any software first before installing hardware

if it says card locked. take out your memmry card on the side of it should be a white little strip you probably swtiched it to locked! you can unlock it by clicking it up!!!

I had the same. It turned out one needs batteries with at least 2250mA. Nearly all batteries one buys are max 2100mA. I found 2500mA batteries and that problem was solved.

Possibly losing battery contact Clean the contacts -take betts out clean the ones in the base[inside] of the chamber with an eraser on the end of pencil. Polish up the lid contact. Reinsert batts- and try. If it goes off try pressing home the lid - does it stay on? pack out the lit with a small piece of foil. Still in trouble? Contact Pentax technical Support- in case this is an issue. A repair is not likely to be cost effective however.

This looks like first stage of CCD sensor failure ( it is starting to output 'noisy' signal )gets worse so that the sensor eventually outputs nothing and you will get blank shots. Ask Pentax if this model with CCD problems is repaired free of charge since most manufacturers do it for nothing or only charge for labour to have a new sensor installed.
