Optio s - flash problem in low light
Read the photo data (EXIF) and confirm what setting the flash was in. It may have been set to off by mistake. For close indoor shots I usually don't depend on the Auto setting, just manually force the flash on to get proper lighting. If you use the Auto setting take into consideration the white balance and the type of indoor lighting you are using.
Optio S Powerup Problem
Perhaps this is related to the focus problem you posted? Battery drain because the lens system hangs up on power-up? If this new lens system fail to open properly you can have battery and focus problems?

Hi. Your camera is too old to accept that big a card. The camera will let you know what size it will accept. Just keep putting larger sizes until it stops. Hope that helps.

The green light only means the memory card is getting power. That nothing else comes on indicates a serious problem that requires a trip to your local camera shop for help.

Camera saying connection fail when trying to transfer photos to pc via usb cable
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa (
http://picasa.google.com ).
Can't import photos to Picassa
Buy a USB card reader take card from camera and use that to import pictures. Sadly I can't help without knowing full details of your equipment, camera, computer operating system, etc.
