The S6 works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card and will not work with your camera. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Software Installation Problem on Mac OS X

You don't need to install anything. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

Will not focus.

The non-functioning of the camera can be a fault in the shutter, zoom or auto focus sections and may be due to the failure of the Main control system or the drive. A simple was is to reset and we can try by removing the battery and card for some time. Now replace only the battery and while switching power ON, tap the lens hood on the palm of your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck. Also PULL the lens hood when it comes out , repeat till the lens moves freely , tap out any dirt or dust on the lens gap to free the movement.

Tips to open and check for common faults:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2Mj3Qp3xYU&feature=related Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. Unless you are familiar with handling of small devices must the camera be opened. If so check the voltage on the motor drive, check the auto focus and Zoom drives, it must be free with manual movement. If jammed the motor can be removed and released. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service centre.Get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.

Thank You for using Fixya

Need help with moving pictures

Hi.

You will need to use a computer, there is no option for direct transfer from internal memory to SD card.

Remove the SD card from inside the camera and connect the camera to the computer using an USB cable. With no SD card the computer will show the pictures stored in camera's internal memory. Copy the pictures in the internal memory in computer hard disk, then eventually move them onto the SD card.

Regards.

I have an Optio S

They are being saved to the internal memory of the camera. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the instructions to erase the internal memory. Insert your card and it should now work properly.

Hello heatman Hi. I have a

You cannot fix this problem. Contact the local dealer or customer service to have it repaired.
For your information -
A charge-coupled device (CCD) is a device for the movement of electrical charge, usually from within the device to an area where the charge can be manipulated, for example conversion into a digital value. CCD a major technology for digital imaging.

In a CCD device, the charge is actually transported across the chip and read at one corner of the array.
An analog-to-digital converter turns each pixel's value into a digital value. CCDs use a special manufacturing process to create the ability to transport charge across the chip without distortion.
This process leads to very high-quality sensors in terms of fidelity and light sensitivity. CCD sensors, as mentioned above, create high-quality, low-noise images. CCDs use a process that consumes lots of power. CCD sensors have been mass produced for a longer period of time, so they are more mature. They tend to have higher quality and more pixels.

A- I have a Pentax Opio S hence I had to get the "fwdc110p.bin" file here:

http://www.badongo.com/file/707791

B- Drop this file on your SD Card at the root directory (same level as DCIM folder) or as described by the following link and then close your camera to OFF:

Attention: Do not load this file yet onto the camera i.e. the menu+power on procedure, follow step C first...

Important!!! Insert a fully charged battery or connect to an external power source.

C- Open the now infamous "Secret Menu" in order to re-initialize your camera prior to re-installing the new firm ware: Simultaneously press MENU + Flash symbol button + Power ON...a white screen with data written in black should show.

Then a sequence of buttons must be pressed: 2 times the focus button (flower, mountain, MF symbols button) followed by 2 toggles to the Right of the "OK" button...then press MENU once and voile...the Secret Menu appears!

Using the down toggle of the OK button, go to ROM UPDATE then go down to "SYSTEM INITIAL" and press OK. Press another OK to re-initialize your camera.

Once this has been completed, turn your camera off.

D- Load the firm ware by opening your camera with the MENU+Power ON procedure...finally this should be posting "Complete" after the "Loading" message, instead of the "Error!" that we initially kept on having.

Your camera should be working perfectly! Only thing is that you will have to redo your personal settings on it from scratch...but hey, this is much better than to wait for months to get your camera back from Pentax and save that money for your next photogenic trip!

If it's an old battery that's been charged many times, then I would guess the battery is at fault. You can get an inexpensive replacement at bestbatt.com

Hi

The SD Memory Card/MultiMediaCard is equipped with a write-protect switch. Setting the switch to [LOCK] protects the existing data by prohibiting recording of new data, deletion of existing data or formatting of the card.

Check your SD card to see if the lock switch has not be activated as this can cause you to be locked out of the menu on the camera.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.
