SD card will not stay in camera

Try to use another SD card in your camera. If the phenomena is still exist, the problem is with your camera (in most of the cases it is a broken plastic part of card's "house").

Lens wont go back in once camera is turned off.

lens motor probably blew a SMT fuse when it got jammed. either take it apart and probe for an open fuse with a miltimeter and jump it with a blob of solder, or remove batteries for 48 hours and try again. Maybe a hard reset (no battery for 48 hours) can reset a shunt type protection.

Connecting the Pentax S50 to computer

hi there

there doesnt seem any problem i what youve explained. its just that your saying that it doesnt show any images as fast like before.

i suggest that you use another software which is easier to use and actually is particular to pictures and videos. whenever you connect your cam to the computer, this software will identify the pics inside your cam.

you can download Picasa2 @ filehippo.com which is under the Imaging Tab.

hope this helps you.

fixya!

Will not power on, lens stuck, poor warranty

Oh boy says the camera tech, a free camera. UTTER BS mate. This is an old trick to say you dropped it or got it wet. If a camera gets wet you can tell straight away and if you are adamant you haven't dropped it or given it swimming lessons then stand up for yourself and DEMAND it gets repaired. I'll guarantee it'll get repaired and sold very quickly if you leave it with them. Many cameras suffer from a similar fault and OK many of do get droppped but just as many are faulty without being dropped. Write letters to Pentax themselves and jump up and down.Make as much noise as you can. If you have a consumer affairs organization write to them as well. Threaten media notification and anything else you can think of. Even legal action. Any genuine Tech will stand up in court and say it's a common fault in many brands. I did hear of one person who took a camera company to court because they refused to repair her camera because she carried it in her purse. She won because the darned thing was advertised to carried in a pocket of purse. Honestly some of these shifty characters just love people like yourself. Go to the top and make NOISE and lots of it. Dead?

Have exactly the same prob, my camera worked for 3 years without any probs, except that the alkaline batteries didn't have a long life...tried rechargeable batteries as well, but since three weeks ago it simply says, "batteries depleted", nothing works, tried everything...sending it to Pentax after the warranty is over is far more expensive than buying a new cam...really sorry for that, but don't think I gonna buy a new Pentax again...

Water Damaged

ok there is one fix that i used with my canon sd700
again, it dropped it in the water and it stopped working
i took of the screen and changed the batterey wattage to 65w instead of 45w using a zxd breaker
then the "hotfix"
i pit it into a oven for 30 sec to get all compo. hot and then let it cool
i pressed the power button, and it worked!!
bad thing is the battery lasts about 5 or 6 hours only because of wattage change!

S40 Battery problem

Alkaline batteries are not capable of outputting the level of power required for your camera to operate. Your daughter's camera may have lower requirements and be able to function properly using alkaline batteries. Your standard alkaline battery outputs about 700 milliamps of power when they are brand new. A rechargeable NiMH battery can range from 1200 to 2700 or even 3200 milliamps max power output depending on the quality of the battery. Most compact digital cameras that accept AA style batteries are designed for these high-output rechargeables and will not function for very long even on fresh Alkaline batteries. Flash

Where the OK button is there is a circle around it. On the left side there is a pic of a flash. You have to turn on camera then turn off flash by pressing the button on the left (flash) til your display shows a flash with a circle around it in the top left corner. Now the flash will not come on.

Pentax Optio 50 Digital Camera Lens Error

Not really, it sounds like the lens has been bumped while it was extended. Unfortunately, the "buzz" you hear is the gears stripping one another. The only fix is to have the lens assembly replaced, which usually costs upwards of $200. I see this problem at least 3 times a week in my shop.

Pentax optio S50 Digital Camera problems.

So other than that, how does it work? Since its not taking pictures, nor turning on either. I'm thinking it has to do with the camera power supply. Sometimes simply taking the batteries out and wiping the contacts off has been enough to get mine going again.

Stuck aperture

This is a common problem with many digital cameras. The shutter or aperture jams and creates a variety of effects. Try tapping the camera on your desk. (Firm, but not too hard) If that fails to help the lens will have to be replaced.
