Mitsubishi HS-U770 S-VHS VCR Questions & Answers
Price to buy a new one
I would contact Mitsubishi as they should know! Just explain to them why and ask for the recommended retail price.
Need price
It was about US$850 maximum new in 1994, worth nothing now to sell.
I've a Mitsubishi HS-U770 that
Mine did that, and when I opened it I found that a small drive belt (visible from the bottom with the cover removed) had deteriorated into goo. This unit had been in storage a while and the rubber just deteriorated, I guess. The trouble is that now I cant tell what size it is, or what length. I think this belt drives the mechanism that loads the tape in and out, and the rest of the mechanism is triggered by the tape cassette moving into position. Since it cant get loaded properly, the rest of the machine doesnt work right, either.
Mitsubishi vcr HS-U770
More likley it's not the little white thingy but the belt that drives it. Take the bottom off and get that broken belt out and runn down to the VCR / Tv repair shop and see if they have a new belt
Inserted a tape today (first
Did you take the bottom off the machine? You'll likely find a belt down there that's become hard from disuse, causing the screeching. It'll need to be replaced if you can't free it up and get it flexible again, which is unlikely after this long.
Good luck.
My Mitsubishi HS-U770 won't keep
The belt is real easy to replace. Should cost about $4 at most. The problem is finding the right one. The belts stretch out with use so if you take the belt in you need to get one that is smaller or you just end up with a new belt that slips.
The hardest part about this is finding a place that has the belts. Usually you can call around town to any electronics store and one will be able to tell you where there is a source and maybe a repair person. I haven't done one of these for quite a while but the usual fee was about $75. The problem is that you can buy a cheap vcr for way under that so no one fixes them any more. So you may end up just replacing it, even though there is nothing really wrong with it.
Tape stuck will not eject
open vcr look for a belt on the right side of the vcr and begin manually turning it until the tape ejects
Plays for 3 secs, stops, and then ejects
This unit needs to have the "idler" changed as well as the belts. Over time, the internal rubber parts get hard ans slippery. There are safety checks inside that will stop the unit when problems are detected. With a slipppery idler assembly, the tape does not get wound into the cassette after passing the heads. Rather than have the tape collect inside and be destroyed, the unit stops. This is a relatively simple repair that any shop should be able to perform. Expect a parts cost in the $35 range. In my opinion, this unit is worth the repair as it will continue to provide service to you for years to come. New replacement units tend to last only a year or two.

Mitsubishi VCR HS-U580 guide rollers not moving forward all the way. Cassette would not load. Also noticed drum not spinning when powered on
Your Mitsubishi VCR HS-U580 looks to have a problem with the information rollers and drum. Here are some things to check:
Look for something blocking the VCR or cassette compartment that would possibly be stopping the guide rollers.
Check the belt that drives the VCR mechanism. If it is loose or broken, you may also need to substitute it.
Clean the video heads using a head-cleaning cassette to make certain they're not dirty.
See if the drum motor is working. If it is not spinning, there may be an issue with the motor.
If the trouble persists, it's an exact idea to get assistance from a professional technician or contact Mitsubishi's purchaser support for advice.
Be cautious when dealing with electronic devices, and if you are not certain what to do, it's great to get assistance from an expert.

I own a Mitsubishi 1080 1EEE 1394 television. Yesterday, we had a planned power outage in our area. When the power was restored, the only picture I can get is flipping horizontal lines?
Hoping you did not have electric overload that damaged the power supply, try unplugging the set and push the button On until no lights indicate anything. Then wait about an hour so the capacitors would empty themselves further. Next plug it back in and see if this worked. It is never wrong to push the edges a little in finding if the cables that go around the screen have a problem at that point. When one opens the TV (off power and unplugged) these flat cables should be checked for corrosion and right position in connectors. Corrosion is caused by little moist only, combined with the electricity. Then see if capacitors from the power supply, or any at all, have expanded tops. Those are the larger and smaller towers with metal on top that is divided in three parts. New ones alike can then be ordered but replacing requires basic skills. Further examples can be found on YouTube. Capacitors are common to fail early. Those larger ones have dangerous high voltage and can hold their charge for long span of time. it is not uncommon for devices like this to fail after being off.
