Our electricity went out for a few minutes, and

Your power outage may have been caused by a nearby lightning strike, or any number of
1000 different reasons that cause power surges, brown-outs, voltage spikes, inductive loading,
and/or utility pole breaker trips and resets (this accounts for your power loss (a pole breaker trip),
followed by restoration of power (the pole breaker automatically reset) - even plain old high electrical demand causing an overload due to air conditioning demands caused by hot weather.
When the pole breaker reset, your TV caught a power surge.
Whenever a power outage occurs, quickly power off (or better, unplug) any/all computers, TVs,
etc. that are not protected by surge-protection.
As an electrician, when someone loses an item of electronics concommitant to an electrical
anomaly, its almost
always traceable to a nearby lightning strike (or the power company provided equivalent), accompanied by inadequate surge protection for
the VCR/TV/Computer/Stereo/uninsured valuable electronic item/XBOX 360/Nintendo Wii.
Surge protection can
be provided by the consumer at the power strip (a good one with builtin MOV protection and a
warranty costs $20, whereas a zero-protection 4-outlet or 6-outlet power strip will cost $4-$5).
Your electrician can provide whole-house surge protection where a whole-house MOV-based (metal oxide varistor) surge protector, or per-circuit protection can be installed with
a GFCI breaker (or better, an AFCI breaker) can be installed.
GFCI = ground fault circuit interruptor
AFCI = Arc fault circuit interruptor
Lightning protection is especially important in Florida, which is the "lightning capital of the world."
I've never found a good solution to lightning-fried electronics (random power supply components are destroyed and/or fuse blown), other than renters insurance or homeowners insurance.

Your only real hope for an economical fix is to look for a blown fuse, and replace it.

If desperate to attempt a fix on your own, you could try replacing the entire TV power supply as a module, but even this provides
no guarantee of a fix - lightning damage can extend beyond the power supply.
When traveling, I will always unplug everything before I leave (except the security system),
and also turn off the breakers to unneeded house circuits (which kills the wall switches that
control interior lighting - forcing a burglar to use their flashlight instead of interior lighting)
which is the least convenient lightning protection, but highly effective, and cheap (free).

I have a 55 in

I'm sorry that the TV is not displaying picture on the screen. Please follow the troubleshooting steps and check the operation:

Please make sure that the connections are secure and proper.
Try connecting a different video source like DVD player or VCR and check the operation. If it works with another device, the issue might be with the input device currently.
Also try connecting the device to a different port in the TV if no other devices are available. If the issue persists, try with a different cable.
Perform a power resetting and check the operation. To perform the power resetting, unplug the TV from wall outlet for more than 2 minutes and then reconnect it.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any clarifications/additional help.

Blinking Light when plugged in - will not turn on

I do not typically direct a novice to do such a thing his/her self.

But since everybody else is doing it...

You need to replace the capacitors on the DM board. You can probably handle it. There is a kit, already made for this problem..http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/

PRESS AND HOLD "device"(input) and "menu"buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

Power in house was shut

Thats a common issue for that model which is caused by weak DM capacitors. When the power is down the caps discharge then they cannot recharge when power is restored and the led blinks non stop. Thw WS48511 - WS65511 DM repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com has the caps and the repair instructions which usually solve that issue.

I have a Diamond Series

If it's a little bit of ghosting, you can adjust the convergence just in the convergence menu. If it's very serious...

How to fix your convergence issue.

To fix a convergence issue, you must understand what you're fixing when your T.V.s picture caves in on itself. Some say it

looks like a 3D image, some say it looks bowed, but what ever you call it, you have a problem that isn't going to fix

itself.

Okay, what happened?

Your rear projection T.V. operates very similar to an older style glass screen CRT/Direct View television. Pretend if you

take 3 of those old glass screen T.V.s gave them all their own color being green, blue, and red, and put them in a box with

a mirror to reflect onto a screen. That's basically what's happening in your T.V. Your issue is that the three CRTs in your

T.V. aren't lining up properly due to a malfuntion in your T.V.

If you're uncomfortable getting your hands dirty, I understand. Call a T.V. repair technician, it'll cost you between 260-

400 dollars depending on the model of T.V. you have.

Before you begin, you must realize that this is not a rookie fix and it does require the skill of soldering.

Tools you will need.

1: Phillips screwdriver/drill
2: Permenant marker
3. Soldering Iron
4: Solder Wick
5: Heat Sink compound/grease
6: Multi Meter (Optional)

Parts Needed
1: (2) Stk392-110s
2: High Wattage Resistors (maybe)

You can find these parts on E-Bay for reasonable prices.

Step Zero:

Plug in your T.V. Look at your problem. Turn the T.V. off. Unplug your T.V.

Step One:

Mark all the connections you have going to your T.V. Ie. Xbox, Cable wires using a marker, or write it on a piece of paper.

Step Two:

Unscrew the back of the T.V. Get the cover off.

Step Three:

Look for the deflection board. Usually it has a flyback on it (the unit sticking out of the board with a big red anode

(wire) that goes into a splitter located higher on the TV usually.) What you're looking for is the part of the board with 2

identical silver heat sinks that hold 2 big ICs. The STKs usually have 2 screws on each of them holding them to the heat

sinks.

Step Four:

Now you'll need to get the old STKS out of the board. To do this, you usually need to remove the board from the chassis.

Remove all the connectors marking where each of them went (the connector and ports). As far as the flyback, you may have to

disconnect the main wire from the voltage splitter. Take the rubber cap off and push and turn like you're opening a bottle

of asperin. It should pop out. As far as the thin wire is concerned you usually can give this one slack by removing it from

the little twist clips it's connected to.

Step Five:

A: You have the deflection board removed. Find the STKS. Unscrew the STK screws. Desolder the STKs from the circuit board.

This is a good time to see if any resistors look burnt. If they are you will need to figure out the values and replace

them. Be carful and take your time desoldering these.

B: Put heat sink grease on the metal part of your new parts and fit them where the old STKs went. This may take a minute to

line up all the pins.

C: Screw the STKS to the heat sink and then resolder them to the board.

Step 6:

Put the board back into the T.V.

Reconnect all the wires you marked earlier. Replace the anode (red wire) to the voltage divider by just pushing it in and

making sure its not going to come out just by slightly tugging on it. If your set had 4 black clips on it, clip those back

onto the board as well.

Step 7:

Double check your connectors. Don't forget to put any back in and make sure they're all in properly.

Step 8:

With the back off, hook up your cable box. Plug the T.V. in. Turn on the T.V. with the remote. Be prepared to unplug the

T.V. in case you did something wrong. If it's running properly for 20 seconds, go look at the picture.

Should be all straightened out.

Step 9: Screw the back on again and reconnect all of your inputs.

The power was on and

There is a reset button next to the power button that you can use a paper clip to activate. If it doesn't turn on, you have bad caps in the DM board.

Red.yellow and green colors do not align. What is

If your picture has a 3D effect and you try to align with the cross hatches, then you have a convergence issue. I usually change both convergence IC's and any resistors that are open in the circuit. It requires unsoldering and soldering in the new convergence IC's. To locate the IC's, you can identify them as two side by side black chips about 3 inches by 2 inches with 18 pins each soldered to the board and on a metal heat sink. The numbers on them are identical and start as STK 392- 120 or 110. It is quite a job even for a skilled tv tech. After installing them and any resistor that is open, you will be able to align the cross hatches.
