One of your convergence IC's has either cracked loose or burned out. The IC will have to be resoldered or replaced and then the convergence circuits realigned. If you do not have experience in repairing convergence circuits then have a qualified tech handle it for you. This is by far the most common failure in the projection sets and a good tech can have it fixed in about an hour and a half. I charge $150 for that but shops in your area will vary, so call around.

Picture is Rolling..stops after some warm-up

I own a VS45607 it's a great TV it started having a rolling picture about two months ago. The picture would not always roll if you turned the TV off/on a couple times. When you got it to stop rolling then it was dark, but got lighter after warming up. The picture stops rolling after the TV warms up a bit...MOST OF THE TIME. Now, it takes longer to get it to stop rolling. What can I do?

I have seen this many times. There is a 9 volt regulator on the small signal board that causes this. The regulator goes bad and the 9 volts starts dropping, especially at start-up when the regulator is cold. If the voltage is below 8 volts then the picture gets dark and the vertical becomes unstable, with the picture squeezing down and/or rolling. As the regulator warms up the voltage starts rising back towards 9 volts and the symptoms start clearing up. There are 3 regulators in a row on the board and the regulator in the middle is always the bad one. Replacing that regulator should cure your problems but it should be replaced by someone experienced in servicing Mitsubishi projection TV's because pulling the chassis out is quite tricky.

Check the 9v regulator Ic2p01 on the signal board for correct regulation 8.9 to 9.1 volts. If voltage at the output is under 8.9v, replace the regulator Ic. Always replace C2p05 100 Ufd 16 V on this set and that should take care of the shakes but you may want the tech to go ahead and ESR some of the other troublesome caps throughout the Tv. He'll know what you mean. Many of the 100mf caps replace automatically. Several others will have a questionable ESR and should be replaced. Caps are inexpensive, but probing with an ESR meter is somewhat labor intensive so you miht discuss with the tech just how far you want him to go testing for bad caps.
A Mits is a great Tv and this repair is clearly worth it..

Good Day, Maybeitstime:

Joe the cheapest way is to repair it yourself and this is what you need to do:

VERTICAL JITTER/HORZ UNSTABLE-CHECK 'GE' CONNECTOR PIN 5 FOR 1VPP Y SIGNAL INTO PIP PCB THEN CHECK 'GE' CONNECTOR PIN 11 FOR 1VPP Y SIGNAL FROM PIP PCB. IF SIGNAL AT PIN 5 IS GOOD AND PIN 11 IS CLIPPED OR REDUCED. CHECK ALL ELECTROLYTIC's (I.E.C7001, C7014, C7026, C7036) AND ALL CONNECTING TRACES TO THESE CAPS FOR CONTINUITY 2. HORIZONTAL TEARING, VERTICAL JITTER. SIGNAL RELATED CONDITION. APPLY FOLLOWING CIRCUIT CHANGES ON PCB-SIGNAL: A. REPLACE R2K8 WITH A 1K RESISTOR (BASE OF Q2B2). B. REPLACE R2K3 WITH A 47 OHM RESISTOR (IC201 PIN 50). C. ADD A 100PF CAPACITOR FROM BASE OF Q2B2 TO JUNCTION OF R2L0 AND R2K6 (GROUND). As you can see this might be over you head but for a 1994 model you did get 14 years of watching TV enjoyment. 'Might think about replacement. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Black horizontal lines. Looks like I am looking through venetian blinds

I own a 2000 VS-45607 mitsubishi projection t.v. I have horizontal black lines, which looks like I am looking through venetian blinds. When the tv is cold they are really bad, but get better after the tv has warmed up. What should I do?

OK this problem is caused by a failing electrolytic capacitor back in the power supply. It's job is to filter AC interfence from that voltage source. Locating the correct capacitor is something not for a do-it-yourselfer. A respectable tv shop experienced with Mitsubishi tv's can usually repair this problem in your home. Average repair cost would be between $200 and $300.

Good Day,
It sounds like you have a bad cap or IC. Replace C2P05 100 ufd 16 volts, off Pin 3 of IC2P01. It is on the Signal Board. IC2P01 Part # 270P466020 (stand-up type mounted on heat sink). The Signal Board is the the board on the left hand side looking at the TV from the back. The parts are on the right side of the Signal Brd towards the middle and back. Replace it even if it checks good. Look at other Caps in the general area and if you see black stuff on the negitive leg of those caps(replace them also).

Good Luck, Big Irish.

Well, today may be your lucky day. This is a 200.00 repair at least, but I'll attempt to help you for free. Most commonly on this set the pip module fails. This is a small standup board mounted on the signal pcb. There are 2 plugs that connect it to the signal board. These plugs are VS and VA. First, Disconnect the power to the tv and remove either the front or rear cover. Use good lighting. Disconnect small standup board from signal pcb using a small screwdriver to undo the two clips at VA and VS connectors. Pins of the VA connector are marked on the board so you can tell which one is pin 1 through 11. Simply jump a small wire from pin 5 to pin 11 and a small wire from pin 7 to pin 9. Make sure the wires do not touch and this will bypass the pip module for testing. With pip module removed and 2 jumpers installed plug set in and turn on. The set should now show a picture but the pip will no longer work. Hope this helps. Good luck, Russmann.
