Blue screen help!

The TV is fine. You need to fined the original remote. Be sure you have a cable connection on the anttenna A RF connector. Push menu and find the input. Or maybe input menu...experiment and you will find and correct this. Seen this problem years ago, can't remember exactly what the remote reads. But it should not be serious.

Need to find horizontal adjustment

You have bad capacitors next to your vertical IC. And be sure to solder the rings around the bottom of the vertical IC. There are no customer controls that will cure this. You need a tv tech!

POWER WILL NOT STAY ON

Not an uncommon warning sign of a failing main power supply.
Listen at the rear of the unit for the (quiet) sound of a fan. If you don't hear one, the supply may just be shutting down from heat. If you do hear a fan, read the tip I paste below if you want to proceed with some troubleshooting. -------- Since you do have both audio and video briefly, this indicates that the more complex section of your set is working.
The assembly that most affects these two equally is the power supply and this is a common failure in all too many of more recently built TVs.
The supply is normally built on a separate board since these are often out-sourced by set manufacturers.

Unplug your set overnight to allow potentially hazardous voltages to discharge, remove the back panel of the set so you can see the guts.
Look for a smaller board with larger parts on it; some cylindrical (capacitors), others block-like and relatively large (chokes and transformers).
You should also see a relationship between the board and the incoming AC.
Check the board for a label or if not present, a stamped-on number.
Call the manufacturer's service center with your TV model number and the number found on that board and inquire about repair/replacement costs; if both are offered, they won't be that much different.
If you must buy a new board, don't dispose of the failed one as there are smaller companies that can repair it for less than the mfr. and then keep it as a spare as this problem will likely arise again.

I have a mitsubishi vs50604.

The TV is on protect mode.

You already did the first two steps of troubleshooting:
  • Leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, at least one hour or so.
  • Ensuring that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that did not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

You are in situation 2 , then the TV is faulty.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.
If you are a technician and you want to DIY, start testing the PSU , convergence board and ballast. If problem is not there , then get the service manual to test digital board and optical group.
you can find service manual here:MITSUBISHI VS-45603 VS-50603 VS-60603 VS-50604 SERVICE MANUAL .

TV will not turn on

you either have leaky capacitors near the voltage regulators, cooling fluid leaking on the boards, and/or bad solder connections on the yoke plugs. this model is known for all 3 problems, but you probably need a qualified tv repairman to fix this right.

Only getting vertical lines on screen.

Tell me are they Verticle lines or verticle LINE. If it is one line, either yoke( a coil kept at the neck of the tube).A yoke has two coils for Vertical and Horizontal for deflections. When the Horizontal deflection coil is opened you get a vertical line which is a single bright line. There another small linear coil on the board connecting the horizontal coil of the yoke. This is a simple fault and tracing is very easy and not expenssive.Only if the yoke is open, it might be bit costly. And that is a rare case.

VS-5042 Sound but no picture

It is not bulb, are you talking about the tube ? At the neck of the tube you will see some connections.Carefully abserve if any cracks on the solderings(we call them DRY SOLDER), then connect them with soldering iron. Always make sure you have disconnected the TV from the mains. If the problem still persists, you will need to reffer to a qualified and Experienced person. He need to look for the LOT section(Auxiary power supply), video amplifier, CRT sections.

Sound but no picture

You should be able to use the device button on the remote control. If this does not work, try going into the menu and disable the home theater mode. The home theater mode locks the TV to input 1. I believe that it is in the advanced menu from the main menu.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

I have a Mitsubishi projection

Hi,

The TV clicking off is quite common, it is a protection switch turning the TV off because a wrong voltage or an unexpected fault had been detected.

" If you let the tv rest a while, it will eventually come back on but its taking longer and longer rest periods."

When that happen parts that can cause the problem are:

PSU: if problem happens after a while, then reading voltages is not enough, the components must be tested using a capacitance meter.
This test often is not performed by on site engineers

Ballast board:
This is a small high voltage board powering lamp or CRTs, depending on the model.
Same as PSU board.

Digital board.
Several ICs and components must be tested following troubleshooting diagrams on service manual.
This test often is not done by field service engineers.

Overheating problems.
Many TVs have heating sensors on DMD board and ballast board. This can be tested.

All faults that occurr after a while are difficult to find. In your case, rather than calling an on site technician it would be better taking the TV to a repair shop.

A good repair technician should be able to
