as old as the set is it is most likely broken or bad solder connections on the circuit boards inside the set....

if it is the model indicated here it is way too old to even attempt to repair.Many parts for this set are not even available so most shops will not want to take it in for repair.

Yes,the convergence problems it the cause,but also now could be have addtion some other problems too it.But change the 2 STK convergence ICS and all the resistors to it, fix the convergence board first see what happen.

A couple of things:
1) Either a bad power supply or a flyback 'supplies the high voltage to the 3 CRT's' .
2) The HOT 'High Output Transistor' is gone bad or the leads 'solder joints' have cracked and are not making a good connection.
time to get it into the shop or have a tech come to your residence to look at it.
Good possibility of getting it fixed.

It sounds like an electronic problem with either the power supply or somthing tripping the power supply up. If you don't have an electronics background Id suggest taking it in to a service shop for a quotation.

You need a professional.
Stop using the TV until it is repaired.
Continue to use it and your problems will multiply and grow more expensive.
Call the manufacturer to find you nearest authorized service center.

Are you able to view the TV's onscreen display menu?  If not, you have a problem with a video board and service is required.  If the menu does appear, you will have to check the cable/wire connection and make sure it is snug and in the correct location.

This is the VZ3 chassis. Solder joints are famous at the yoke plugs, flyback and horizontal drive transformer.The blue convergence is the Convergence ICs need replacing. I will try to locate a manual for you.

Sounds as if you have a bad capacitor in the horizontal deflection or video circuitry. You can spot a bad capacitor in circuit with a ESR meter.Hope this helps.

Better pry it's not the CRT ( 251C080010) these are No Longer Avalible But with a set this old (1996) and being a Mitsubishi you probley have a bazzilion capacitors that have weakened up over it's 12 years In another post you say you got a convergance problem those Ic's STK391-020 are still avalible, but where you might start is to simply resolder the entire dflection and signal board. Mitshubishis are well know for running hot and burn the crt's making the pix terrible. Then after spending a few hundred on Ic's capacitor, resstors and such do ya know what you will have? Thats right a 12 year old set. This may be a fun one to play with but don't plan on making this the center piece of your entertament center

Hoping you did not have electric overload that damaged the power supply, try unplugging the set and push the button On until no lights indicate anything. Then wait about an hour so the capacitors would empty themselves further. Next plug it back in and see if this worked. It is never wrong to push the edges a little in finding if the cables that go around the screen have a problem at that point. When one opens the TV (off power and unplugged) these flat cables should be checked for corrosion and right position in connectors. Corrosion is caused by little moist only, combined with the electricity. Then see if capacitors from the power supply, or any at all, have expanded tops. Those are the larger and smaller towers with metal on top that is divided in three parts. New ones alike can then be ordered but replacing requires basic skills.
