Remove the battery for 20mins, replace the battery then go to the camera's menu to set the Date & Time.

Some batteries can emit caustic fumes when discharging heavily that can attack battery contacts in the camera. Try using a pencil eraser to scrub any metallic contacts you can reach in the camera and the battery terminals too.

Hello qpray... I suspect that the voltage in those new lithium batteries is too high for your camera. Check your manual and see what batteries are recommended. I think once you get different batteries your problem will be solved.

The Pentax 645N is not a modular camera it has interchangeable lenses and uses film inserts. Removing the "top cover" should only be done by an accomplished repair person. I doubt anyone here would talk you through the procegure of dismantling a 645n. The Pentax 645 series of cameras is unlike a Mamiya, Hasselblad or Bronica which are modular cameras.

The problem here is withint the lens/shutter, over time when not in use the shutter can get stuck into place and not open at all thus causing a under exposed or over exposed shot, what needs to take place is a camera shop will need to go in and fix the shutter. More then likely you will get off scott free with a $35 repair bill respectivly, if it comes out to more then it might nto be worth it for you depending on how your value your camera.

You have yourself a camera with pedigree and it would be a shame not to put a few rolls of film through it before you decide whether to continue to use it, store it as a collectible or sell it on. Who, exactly, are 'they' ? There are many models of Pentax SLR camera, both film and digital, and there is a different manual pertaining to the care and operation of each of these. If you go to the Pentax Service Centre relevant to your place of residence, all the available manuals will probably be there. If the one that you require is not available, you may find it by doing a Google search for the make and model, followed by the word Manual.

Please, which camera model? Are we talking about the external flash or one built in? If it is built in the camera may think there is not enough light thus setting the flash to fire. That is what auto does, it takes all the decisions away from the camera operator.

I think the 'o____' is intended as a pictorial representation of a roll of 35mm film, the 'E' signifying an error in loading it. Not used this particular Pentax model myself, but some of them have a slot in the take-up spool where the 'tongue' of the film should be inserted - is that the case with yours ?
