Tv shuts off when trying to turn on

Check the error code by holding the menu and device buttons for 5 seconds and reading the number of times the power led flashes between pauses. This has to be done after the set powers up and off.

2.2 is a common convergence problem.

I have a ws55809 that

hmm.. Sounds like you've check and replaced the likely parts, was there a blown pico fuse to begin with? f9a04 and f9a05 are the convergence fuses.. The stk chips fail regularly and may have needed replacement even if this didn't fix the issue..
Usually with a deflection error I would check the horizontal output transistor (its about the largest transistor in there, on a large heatsink) look for a short on that. When you first kick the set on, there should be 120v present at the collector (middle leg) of this transistor. You may want to look for another fuse or two over on the power supply board (right side from back of tv set) there is 1 or 2 hidden down in there. Another thing to look for is a fluid leak.. sometimes the cooling fluid can drip out of the CRT and cause a short. It can even be 1 drop, so get a bright light and look around. You can feel up under the CRT (when its unplugged! ) for wetness, it will drip out the metal part and down onto the board. If you find that, you can clean it up and hopefully it hasnt fried anything. It is toxic stuff, so wash your hands good after coming in contact. Let me know some more details, we can solve this for sure. Here is my tutorial on convergence if this helps you at all :

My HD 1080 WS-55809 won't turn on - little green

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error code 2-2 means short protect which is either caused by bad convergence ICs and/or 2 Pico fuses (F9A05 and F9A04). You’ll need to open the back of the unit and replace the parts that have gone bad to resolve this issue.
Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

There is a red outline, shadow around people and

If you want to repair this set yourself, I have some instructions below that will be a help to you.
While it is not a very hard repair, this repair can be a bit tricky. If you have a 45W soldering iron, solder, solder wick, heat sink compound, and some basic soldering skills, you can repair the television yourself.
*** VERY IMPORTANT NOTE***
If your set is not producing a clear picture and the colors are not lining up, do not continue to watch the set as this can lead to further failure and possibly damage the individual CRT’s in the set.
I have repaired hundreds of these sets, so if you have any questions after reading the following, please reply to this post and I will help you in any way that I can.

With that aside I have some support suggestions that I have put together that may help you make an informed decision.

You should be able to get a local service center to repair this at your house for between $350.00 - $450.00, If you want to repair this set yourself, I have some instructions below that will be a help to you.
While it is not a very hard repair, this repair can be a bit tricky

How do I tell if the IC’s are damaged?
Since you cannot look inside of an IC, you will have to locate some of the components in the area around the convergence IC’s. You may be able to see some resistors that have changed colors or you test a resistor and it no longer reads the value marked by the color bands or the printed value. You will have to replace the IC’s and the supporting components.

When you remove the old IC's, please be sure to remove all of the old heat sink compound, as it can act as an insulator for the new IC's and cause them to overheat. I usually clean the heat sinks with alcohol and a small rag.

Where are the IC’s located and how do I find them?
There are two and large IC’s that control the convergence in a big screen set. Some of the newer sets only have one. If you only have one, it is right in the middle of the set on the center circuit board. They are secured to a very large aluminum heat sink. They will have a part number stamped on them that will start with an STKXXX-XXX, like STK392-110.

Along with the convergence IC’s there will also be some associated components that will need to be replaced as well. There are some resistors that are part of the convergence circuit that will be open and need to be replaced. Most likely these will appear charred in the center. If you have an Ohm Meter or a DVM, check all the resistors that are close to the IC’s and you should be looking for either ones that have opened or have changed values.

If one of the convergence IC’s are found to be bad, I would replace them both, if one has gone bad the other may go soon. I usually order my parts from Andrews Electronics in California, they will have the OEM components that you will need.
Their site is
http://www.andrewselectronics.com/welcome.aspx
And their phone number is a 24-Hour Order Desk: (800) 274-4666
I recommend the phone order so you can talk to the person about the different types of IC’s that are available.

I would also advise that the convergence IC’s be OEM or better, just because they are cheap does not mean that they are a good deal. I have seen the cheap IC’s fail after a short time, even though they look exactly like the OEM IC’s. I think that the bottom line is that you will get what you pay for when it comes to the parts.

You can also try
http://www.tvrepairkits.com/ , they do carry OEM or better parts. When you order from them you will get a kit with instructions on how to do the repair, step-by-step.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.
Thanks for using FixYa

The picture is orange tinted,

OK,

This is CRT driven unit form what i get form the model number could be wrong?

What is happening is one or more if the integrated circuits have gotten old over time so the color calibration has given way.

The fix would cost $350.00 respectively if a repairman where to come out and work on the unit.

You cause why you got the orange tint on all channels is because of calibrations of the RGB crts or even guns.. But this sounds like a crt driven unit.

Do not shoot the messenger here but the only solution is repairing down to component level as even a refurb chassis would give you a 90 days warranty.

Mitsubishi model WS-55313 worked before we moved

DO self check this model has.

When power light goes off, on the front of the set push and hold BOTH the menu and input buttons for 5 seconds or longer and release both.

Power light will blink a error code--like 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks and will repeat it 5 times.

Let me know the error code and I will tell you what kind of trouble you have.

Tv turns itself off

do the self test the set has.

when green light (power) comes on and then goes off, press and hold BOTH the Menu and Input buttons for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons on the front of the set.

The power light will display a error code: for example 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks (this is the most common one) and it will repeat the code about 5 times.

To get it to repeat it you have to unplug set, plug it back in and turn it one and when it fails repeat the check.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what may be wrong. I hope it is 2,2 as it is the least difficult to resolve.

Conv problems with no pic has sound

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

e87380c.jpg
Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

69189a5.pngCONVERGENCE SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.
