Mitsibushi WS-55805 projection TV turns

Hi Joann_clemen,

2-1 code blink in your model no. indicated that it has no error detected. The real problem is in the main voltage regulation circuit of the power supply. This is caused by leaky/dried capacitor in that section which will drop the voltage and will disable the unit. Sometimes it has a bulged at the top but not all, you must have capacitor checker/tester to isolate the faulty capacitor. High ESR value consider also a bad cap. Sometimes it will make itself stable within a warm-up but the symptoms will get worst. This will not be detected by the processor since the supply goes into proper regulation after a warm-up prior of self test, that's why the error code is 2-1. If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument I would advice you to look for a qualified technician to troubleshoot the problem. Don't work in that board if you don't know safety precaution of handling it....

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

I have a Mitsubishi WS55809

Unless you've moved the unit lately, or the kids have treated it roughly, it's probably not the mirror, which is fixed in place with screws on this model.
You can also take a look at this website here, which describes some solutions to bowing problems, specifically replacing the convergence ICs. However, this is expensive, provided you can still find parts, and probably isn't your problem, anyway.
Since whacking the unit fixes and un-fixes the problem, it's more than likely a connector that's loose. If you know your way around the inside of a TV, you can unplug, clean, and re-plug the various boards and connectors, especially the convergence and deflector boards. That will likely solve your problem
CAUTION: If you don't know your way around the inside of a TV, DON'T OPEN IT! Even after unplugging the TV, some of the wires inside will have enough voltage to cause serious injury. Better to be safe than sorry.

On my HD1080 Mitsubishi projection

It could be one of two things: Either a bad solder joint or convergence IC failure.

Convergence IC failure is very common. The solution is to replace the STK chips, check fuses and the resistors next to the STK chips. Replace as necessary and re-align via the service menu. It is about a $300 repair at a tv service center. You will need the service manual if you decide to do this yourself.

Try This:
When you notice the symptons Use this simple test to verify.
Go to the users menu on the tv.
Look for the converge option probably under setup or video setting. Converge is short for convergence to align the red and blue colors to the green color.

If you cannot move the red either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for red section.
If you cannot move the blue either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for the blue section.

If you can move both in each direction then the problem is something else.

Note if one STK chip fails, you replace both regardless

My 3 colors are all

Hello,

This problem is very common with rear projection TV's.

It is related to one or more of the colour guns being out of alignment. The only way to correct this issue is to have a technician come in and fix it or bring it into a repair center. I personally would suggest purchasing a new TV. The cost of getting them aligned is usually more then a basic LCD.

Hope this helps

CERTIFIED TV EXPERT HERE, follow this information I provided 3 long solutions to this issue/s Solution 1 Before we start taking things apart, lets try your simple remove power plug routine and power system back up. Also, please try your unit on a few different channels to see if your problem continues on each channel. Your Main Board, Power Board, T-Control Board are suspected problems at this time. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, the unit should power down by itself after you have powered it on. If it does not, then do not be concerned. Let me know if the problem continues. The first link below will bring you directly to the troubleshooting guide if you need to continue forward with the same error. Additional information http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide Failed TV and Monitors: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Parts: www.shopjimmy.com 2 Lets focus on the external portion of the TV set first (95 percent of all TV problems are related to things EXTERNAL To the tv itself) Check the physical CONNECTION of all cables by removing each wire bare or RCA and reinstalling it (Each power cable as well), once you have removed one cable, check it for fraying, and if it is already bare, splice a new fresh connection for it. 5. Check to make sure there are NO OTHER uneeded radios, system nearby. these systems, when powered on, will cause electromagnetic interference and prevent more than just severe tv interference SURGE PROTECTOR Surge protectors account for more than 75 percent of electric faults to stereo equipment. Lets start with your AC Wall outlet. It is standard in america that 220 Volts from out of these outlets. This implies that each device will be using 220 Volts (From within that grid zone). If anything including an alarm clock is plugged into any AC outlet socket in the vicinity of the stereo equipment/TV, it will cause electric outage, and prevent electronics from even turning on! Your TV needs dedicated electric power. If your TV is located in the living room then unplug everything else in the living room. Lets plug the TV set into a Dedicated socket. Check all light switches to ensure that power is on for that outlet. Check the TV cable for Fraying both on the ac wall end and where it plugs into the TV. Check all GFCI outlets to ensure that all red reset buttons are pushed in, check the circuit breakers for proper connection and they are turned on. Now, lets try the TV set without it connected to any cable services, vcr, dvd, stereo system, etc. Please respond if we have found a solution. 3 When troubleshooting these units, there are always several variables to consider. First check to see what last occurred with the unit such as did the children play video games, did the electricity go out due to bad weather. You may see that there are many possibilities but let's focus on what occurred last to the unit. Once we determine what happened last, we may isolate the actual cause of the problem. The actual cause may be associated with projection issues, older versions (Picture tube), interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common with the error you have provided today. Please continue to look for anything EXTERNAL to the unit before looking at the internal components. I have been working on these a long time so feel free to follow up with me

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers, for spare parts and service, and Installation Instructions as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

Convergance on mitsubishi ws55809

I can provide you with start to finish step by step instructions for this repair in this set and photos of the resistors that protect the chips and the fuses also(if one of the 2 fuses was bad the set would shut down instantly.

They are located on the middle circuit board on a large metal heat sink---That board needs to be removed from the set to replace them safely--you can see them if you remove the front speaker grill and the inspection plate behind it.

I have done hundreds of these sets.

If you want the instructions (I can also tell you a good place to buy them from) and the photos just take a minute and give me a vote here and your email.

Power went out and tv wont turn back on. all i

There is usualy one of two reasons. 1) The DM board has failed. 2) The convergence has shorted and is causing the TV to shut down. Normaly if its just a fast blink its the DM. If its blinking a pattern or error code of 22 its convergence. On the site www.TvRepairKits.com you can find out how to get the error codes and also the parts.

Is there and error code

ERROR CODE 12 IS "NORMAL OPERATION" IF THAT IS THE CODE THAT THE TV IS GIVING YOU THEN IT THINKS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ITSELF. YOU HAVE TO CHECK FOR THE ERROR CODE ONLY AFTER THE TV FAILS. TRY TO POWER ON AND IF IT DOESN'T THEN CHECK ERROR CODE.

The power wont stay on,

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I

My medallion hd 1080 tv

There is only one way to fix it and that is replacing all three CRT's. Due to the cost of the CRT's at around $300.00 a piece, ($900.00 for all three), I recommend not investing the money into it unless
the set is very special to you.
