Mitsubishi WS-55809 55" Rear Projection Television - Page 3 Questions & Answers
WD-67535 doesn't turn on
Hello,The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge. The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.All these can be checked on the power supply board. But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others. The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes. What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point). You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue. If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.I hope this helps.Regards.

When it shuts down press the menu and Input buttons on the set both in together and hold for 6 seconds the led will then start to blink a two digit blink code which will repeat a few times indicating where the problem is. Let me know the blink code sequence and I will assist you with the problem.
The picture flickers occasionally. I am wondering
The WS-55809 is a rear projection TV and does not have a bulb, it has 3 picture tubes. DLP and LCD Projection sets have bulbs, or mercury vapor lamps. Does your picture flicker equally with different inputs?

Hi Dennis,
"12" means that there's no error detected by the processor.
If the unit power up for 1 hour or so and then gone to subsequent shutdown, I would advice you to clean the air vent of the unit, exhaust fan, and avoid any obstruction to ensure sufficient air flow that may caused excessive heat build up and will trigger the thermal protection circuit.

I need to know how to repair a Mitsubishi TV when
THIS IS MY STANDARD ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION==SOMETIMES PEOPLE DO NOT
TRY THE EASY POSSIBLE REASON--IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS LET ME
KNOW---IF THE ANSWER TOLD YOU something you did not know--rate the
solution----
ONLY 1 of 2 things can cause this problem----
First thing to do is
remove front speaker grill--it should pull out and is secured with plastic
pegs--behind it you will find an inspection plate---
Notice the one or
two pairs of wires coming from the front keyboard
of the set---remove the inspection plate and follow the wires to the
right--you can unplug both plugs(most have two and they are marked with
letters and different sizes so you cannot get them wrong)
The
idea here is to remove the front keyboard with its reset button etc
from the circuit---You will still be able to try to turn the set on
with the remote---
These sets have a Receiver that is called a DM board--(large metal box to the
left as you look from the back) and if the power goes out the green
light will blink for about 70 seconds and then go out---it is the
Receiver booting up. It is called the DM board.
If disconnecting the keyboard allows the
set to turn on--you have a bad reset switch and two choices---either
operate the set only with the remote or to remove the front screen and
get at the reset switch (it is tiny) and remove and/or replace it.
If
disconnecting the keyboard does not restore the set to operation---the
receiver is bad---there are 4 or more caps and some pico fuses that can
fail in that unit---Mitsubishi no longer sells or repairs these--if it
is bad and not the caps there is a company you can send the unit to and
have it repaired--if you need to know their name let me know---
You can
call them and get a quote for repairing the receiver.

Cc color distortion bows at
All projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video or dead set) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.
Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out
Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. In some cases the TV will also not show any video. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.
Common Symptoms include....
- Screen looks 3D
- Colors don't line up
- One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
- Screen is bowed or warped.
- TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.
Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Hd1080 power wont com on
Thats usually caused by failed capacitors on the DM power board. REplaceing them will usually fix the issue. You can get the DM repair kit for your model at
www.tvrepairworld.com which contains the upgraded caps and the CD with repair instructions.
My screen went out but
Your set doesn't have a tube, per se, it has three CRT "guns" in Red, Green and Blue tjat converge the colors on the screen to create the image. It is very odd for them to all go at once which means it's probably a much bigger problem that will not be cost-effective to fix. Better off investing in a more contemporary set.
Wont turn on. on light comes on for 5 seconds then
Do the self check this model has.
When power light goes off on the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input (device) at the same time and hold for at least five seconds and release both buttons.
The power light will blink a two digit error code: like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and then repeat it several times.
Let me know by leaving a comment here what code you find and I will tell you what it means.

Hi,
my tv have multi color
Hi
The problem is in the color convergence power supply. With the back cover off you'll notice a set of boards on the bottom of the TV and a pair of boards sitting up over the two bottom boards. The convergence power supply board is in the upper-right hand. You need to replace or repair this board. If you are not able to do it by your own seek help of a repair person.
