My tv would turn on. has audio but no vedio

Chances are good that it's a bad board; provided all connections are correct and it "just" happened during normal use. The problem that you may encounter is parts availability. Several chipsets are no longer in production and it could be an expensive ordeal for a 1080i set. Great Picture! just dated... An average shop would charge 75-125 to diagnose the problem. Most will apply the fee to the repair if you decide to do it. Worth a check... Hope this helps

Hooked up PS3 to system and when watching DVD's

All projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video or dead set) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. In some cases the TV will also not show any video. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

There was a power outage in my zipcode; and when

Thats a very common problem caused by bad DM capacitors. The caps discharge during the power loss and then cannot recharge when the power is restored whcih causes the steady blinking green led. You can get the DM repair kit for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com which does include the upgraded caps and the CD with instructions.

I have a Mitsubishi projection tv, model WD-62525

Hello,

Remove the TV wire from the wall plug, wait for about 30mins for TV to settle, plug it back into the wall and power on the TV and see if problem will persist.

If problem persist then problem is either from a dying lamp or a power problem. If the blinking light it green, then it means you need to replace the lamp, but if the blinking lamp is red, it means your TV is having a power problem.

Red blinking light on your TV is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.

All these can be checked on the power supply board.

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Regards.

This model has a self check: with the set plugged in turn it on--green power light comes on and a few seconds later goes off.

On front of set press and hold BOTH the menu and input buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

Power light will blink a 2 digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

if you remove the rear cover you will find 3 large lens----with the set on cover the red and then the green one at a time, if the dots vanish you have a "burnt" picture tube caused by some problem in the set---it is permanent damage and not only would the picture tubes have to be replaced but whatever arced and burnt them would have to be located and repaired.

If the dots go away it is most likely not worth fixing.

Normally you can use the TV speakers along with the rear audio outputs going to a separate amplifier at the same time. The rear outputs should be active whether the internal speakers are on or off. However, make sure the tv volume is turned up sufficiently when you test the sound coming from the stereo system, since the output signal level of the TV's rear audio jacks may be tied to the TV volume while the internal speakers are ON.

My Mitsubishi 65809 will not

It sounds like there is a fuse blown in side. I had a similar result after I changed out the IC chips, There is a way to get the error code. Unplug the TV then plug it back in. Press and hold "Device" and "Menu" button at the same time. The power button will blink the error code. Mine was a 2 - 2 which meant it had a short. When I researched that it turned out my 5A Pico fuses where blown. I checked them and they where bad. I soldered in 2 new ones and it turned back on. In most cases if you have a 2 - 2 you will also need to replace the IC's. I got mine from http://www.tvrepairkits.com

I am trying to hookup my lap top to the tv.I

Hello there,

Asssuming you've got all of the correct hardware to make this work and it's correctly connected, all you need to do is set the DTV input to ON in the ASSIGN INPUT menu, select the DTV input using the mitsubishi remote, then switch the laptop to an external monitor setting. Easy huh . . .

A. Connecting to the TV:

Connect the red, green and blue component jacks to the sockets I've ringed in the picture below. Make sure you are connecting the red video jack to the red socket and not the red audio jack. Don't worry about the audio connections for the moment. You will need to connect your laptop directly to the TV to use the TV speakers as your PC speakers. A 15 pin (D-Sub) cable will not carry an audio signal. We can deal with that later.

belectric_139.jpg

B. Switching the DTV input ON:

1. Press the MENU key on the mitsubishi remote to open the on-screen menu
2. Use the DOWN arrow to highlight INPUT ASSIGNMENT then press ENTER
3. Use the DOWN arrow to highlight DTV
4.Press the RIGHT arrow repeatedly to set the DTV value to ON (if not already on)
5. Press the HOME key to close the menu

C. Selecting the DTV input:

Press the INPUT UP/DOWN buttons on the mitsubishi remote repeatedly until the DTV input is selected. (These are below the number keys, next to the CHANNEL UP/DOWN keys.)

D. Switching to an external monitor setting on the laptop.

Hold down the FN key (usually next to CTRL) and then press F5 once. On some laptops this may be F4. One of these should have a small icon of a PC and a monitor on it. Whichever one has this icon is the monitor switching key. With FN held down, each press of F5 or F4 will change the monitor configuration between:

- TV screen ON, laptop OFF
- Both ON
- Laptop ON, TV screen OFF

That's it! Well . . . not quite.

Your TV was not designed or intended to be a computer monitor. It has no PC monitor input sockets. With the correct adaptor/interface between the laptop and the TV, it can probably be made to work, but this is not guaranteed.

I really need to know what adaptor you bought. Most of these are one-directional. You need a 15 pin D-Sub to component adaptor. If you've bought a component to 15 pin D-Sub adaptor, it's not going to work. It's designed to only work in the opposite direction.

Please make sure you have done all of the above and then let me know whether you have video from the laptop on the TV screen. We can then move on to using the TV speakers for PC audio. If you don't have video, then you may not have the correct adaptor or it may not be possible to use your TV as a PC monitor.

If you don't have video, I will need to know which component/D-Sub adaptor you bought.

Hope this helps - I look forward to hearing back from you. This one could be quite a challenge!

Regards,
BElectric
