Why doesn't blower motor shut off?

The air intake for the blower is probably dirty / clogged. This is causing the blower motor to work harder and overheat. Since the motor generates heat the sensor that turns on the motor does not cool enough to shut off the motor.

Natural gas conversion

I have a similar problem. But, I want to convert it to propane. I have a 5 burner vent free modelMN300HPA. If your are handy. I would consider shipping you the parts inside mine to install in yours. These parts are very simple to remove after removing the access panels. I have taken mine out already. Called procom then to no less find out the propane parts needed are not sold by them. I think only the injectors (5) the main valve (regulator) and the pilot are the only things need to change. When taking out the pilot this is easly done, By removing the nut on the supply line. And then bending back the retaining tabs to then slide back the pilot then it comes out of the assembly bracket. Injectors are simply removed. Regulator located at the bottom is a simple remove. The only other item that might be questionable would be the valve that selects the amount of burners you would like to operate. And I would think this would be the same and not need removing. Let me know if I can help. I would like to get mine converted to propane. Thanks Tom

I have set the times

If the Procom Model number you referenced is correct, this heater does not have a automatic timing feature to turn the heater On and Off. However, it does have a built-in thermostat control, that turns the heater's burner on, once the room/area drops below the temperature/comfort level you have set it for.

Conversely, it turns the burner Off once it reaches and holds the temperature/comfort level for 5 minutes or more, it turns the burner OFF, again. Keep in mind, because this is a built-in thermostat, it's reading the air temperature closest to the heater.

If the thermostat feature is what you're having a problem with, it may be that the sensor bulb has failed (assuming it's not turning ON & OFF automatically). However, this is a fairly rare failure. Unless, the heater is very old or hasn't been cleaned and serviced annually.

Another situation would be that the Control Knob has been left in the PILOT position, rather then the ON position. If that is the case, the heater will not turn ON, period.

Right now, your Owners Manual is your best source of information on the correct operation of the heater, as well as it's Trouble Shooting Guide.

If you have misplaced the Owners Manual, here's a printable link to it. Just locate the Model Number of your heater, ML300TB and click on the icon to the left of it.

Hope this helps you solve your problem.

My heater starts fine and

Could be a couple of things causes this problem.

  • Has the heater been cleaned & serviced at least annually?
  • Could there be a change in gas pressure to the unit periodically?
  • Is their enough room air for safe combustion?
I suspect that the first one is the culprit. At least, that's what I've found from being in the hearth and home business for 14 years. It's not difficult to accomplish if you're comfortable with removing the face of the heater cabinet and performing the necessary things to thoroughly clean it. Your Owners Manual has a section on routine maintenance (Page 11). http://www.heaterstore.com/images_templ/procom_ml200_300tba_manual.pdf

A change in gas pressure can also cause the problem. You didn't mention if you're using Natural Gas or Propane, but little hiccups in the pressure will cause this. Also, do you have any other gas appliances in the home? Are any of them ON with this occurs with the heater? If so, that could cause a pressure drop if the gas line to your heater is not sized properly (minimum 1/2" diameter).

If the heater is using up the combustion air in the room the heater is in, the Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) is shutting it off. However, if this occurs it will not allow you to immediately relight the pilot. But, the ODS may be partially clogged with dust, lint and/or pet hair. Simply cleaning out the sensor, which is part of the pilot assembly will solve that problem (see Owners Manual for how to clean it).

Hope this resolves the problems you are having. Please let me know.

Hi,
The pilot flame is not staying directed on the thermocouple... either the thermocouple is not installed correctly or the hood of the pilot flame has moved.. they have a problem with mvoing up after many heat/cool cycles and that pulls the hood up too high and then the flame is not directed on the thermocouple anymore... carefully bend the hood back down and make sure the flame contacts the thermocouple continuosly...

I have a PROCOM model

You could try cleaning up the thermocouple with steel wool. Some manufacturers call this a flame generator as well. Any how make sure it is clean and positioned in the top center of the pilot light for best signal. This is only speculation as these are common problems that will arise on heaters in general. This also turns the gas to the burners and pilot light so thats why to start here first. Hope this helps you out.
