My ws-55311 shows blue screen on all inputs except the DTV input

This set has 3 hidden menus accessed with a different 4 digit number code----You need the Mitsubishi remote to enter. One of them is the Option menu which will allow a hard reset of the TV back to factory original---98% of the time it will restore all inputs--cures all sorts of odd problems. If you have that remote and want to try it let me know for sure the model number and I will give you a link to the instructions for doing it.

V-chip reset do not know the 4 digit passcode and

If model number is correct WS55311 this set has a hidden menu (actually 3 of them) and one is the "Option" menu where you can do a hard reset of the set; it buts everything back to factory default. It is done with a 4 digit code (I know depending on what model number is) and the original Mitsubishi remote has to be used for this.Confirm actual model number and I will give that code to you.sd tech

Mitsubihsi WS 55311 will not give codes when

This is a V20 chassis and if it shuts down it should trigger an error; note if no error the power light should blink 1, 2 pause and repeat it several times---this is no error found.I would unplug the set for a few minutes (this clears the error buffer) and turn on again and wait for failure; you must push menu and input and hold for at least 5 seconds and let both go.IF no error code this is a model made around 2002 (date will be on back of set) and it must display some error code.If you find none I can suggest looking for any signs of Glycol leaks inside the set. If you need to know what to look for let me know and I will tell you.Again: All models after 2000 (and some before) have the error buffer.Let me know if you have questions.SD TECH11_2_2011_8_00_11_pm.jpg

Hi.

If there is sound but no picture it means that the three CRT picture tubes are not receiving power.

The first part to test is the power supply (PSU). The PSU supplies power in different DC voltage to the different circuits of the TV. The higher DC voltage line goes to flyback and then to CRT. Testing is done reading the VDC line to flyback.

Here the part: Power V20/V20B

If the PSU is OK the flyback transformer is usually responsible. This part is tested reading voltage in (if it is OK part is usually bad) and testing solder joints and components. Here the part:
Transformer -Fb

The contacts and solder joint in the individual CRT housing must also be tested checking if there is continuity between contacts with CRT and solder joints on the other side. It is unlikely that three CRT housing go bad at the same time. This test in more of a routine check.

If the parts mentioned above are OK the problem is the digital controller board.

Try first disconnecting power for five minutes. If that does not help the TV must be disassembled to test parts mentioned above and to replace faulty part.

Here all parts for your TV.

Regards.

I have a code 23

Hi,
"23" is an error for "horizontal deflection failure". When this circuitry gone bad the unit will not power up. This is not an easy fix because you have to check the horizontal drive from IC2V00. This signal flows to a lots of parts like the transistors (Q2V40,Q5A40,Q5A33,Q5A39,Q5A32,Q5A31,Q5A37,Q5A01), resistors, and capacitors which will drive to have a complete circuit to the FBT.
B+ supply line is also going to check for an open circuit.
To determine where the fault came from, the unit will go to series of resistance and actual voltage measurement. It needs a technical knowledge in this circuitry.
I would advice you to look for a qualified TV Technician to isolate the faulty parts.
Also, check if your unit is still under warranty/extended warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Mitsubishi WS-55311 55 in. Rear Projection light

http://www.download-service-manuals.com/manual.php?file=Mitsubishi-1343.pdf

above is your service and repair manual, below is your owners manual.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Mitsubishi-WS-55311-TVs-manual/id/276ci866/t/2/

OK well what has happened i suspect, is that your set has been "Spiked" from a power disturbance, and this has damaged either the PSU, or an internal high voltage component, or both, and now, the Protection Circuitry in the SMPS unit, is "Sensing" a potential "Catastrophic fault", that may cause a fire an explosion or both, and accordingly the set MUST be shut down, so the protection circuitry does exactly that.
Your best bet, is to contact a local or head office of the TV's manufacturer, and ask them for a referral to an authorised servicing center. When contact is made with them, ask for a "Quote" for the repair, before allowing any repair work to be undertaken. This then at least will give you an idea as to costings and you can then make an informed decision as to repair or replace, as often these days i find in my shop anyway, many repairs can be very expensive, and often it would be better putting any monies that would have been spent on repair towards a NEW unit with a warranty.

However if you really wish to DIY, then I have supplied the service manual, so you can begin troubleshooting, as usual always start at the Power supply and check voltages here first as if the voltages aren't correct here, then nowhere else can be...follow any potential incorrect voltage to it's fault.

My tv looks like its

Hello

The problem with your tv is called CONVERGENCE... Its a fancy name that says one or more of the guns is not firing at the right spot.

In your owners manual there will be a page about how to reset the convergence, that will make you line them back up again. Sometimes (and I fear this in your case) the chips go bad and you cant make the tv come back in to convergence. Often when people say it looks like 3d this is the case. If you find that you cant get your set back in to convergence there are several places on the internet that sell repair kits. Repairing the tv will often require a little soldering but often the results of your labor will be a stunning picture for years to come.

Google tv repair kits and put your model number in.

Here is a site I use as an example. As you can see it is in the UK so no one can claim I am trying to pick one place over another...

http://www.ohmsupplies.co.uk

Put that will let you see what the kits look like.

I hope this helps you

Green lite turns on for 2 second and then turns

Please listen and try this:

When the power light comes on and goes off, on the front of the set press BOTH the Menu and Input (Device) buttons at the SAME time and HOLD them both for at least five seconds and then release both.

The power light will blink a two digit error code and will repeat it about 5 times. To get it to repeat you would have to unplug the set and turn it on again etc.

The most common error is 2 blinks, pause, 2 blinks.

Let me know what error code you find and I will direct you as to what it means and what may have to be done.

Blinking screen

You have a problem in the horizontal deflection board. It will start with bad capacitors and poor grounds. You may also have a high voltage switching transistor along with one or two horizontal transistors that are bad. I would certainly start here. The convergence board occasionally will do this, but not in this case. Ask a TV tech to check the the deflection board. And mention it may also be a bad Vertical IC is shutting the TV down as well. You are now armed to speak with a TV Repairman. Good Luck and thanks for asking!
