RCA Digital Voice Manager software for RP5120 "warning decoding"
Bad News... I spoke to AudioVox/RCA (800-894-0956 < Direct DVR Number) and they told me that once you get this notification of a bad file format, there is NOTHING that can be done.
I tried DOS, too. Nothing worked.
The only thing left to try is connecting the recorder to the computer via a cable from the line out of the DVR to the line in of the audio card, and record from there. I'm going to try this, then return the recorder, if possible. Mind you, I've gone through several of these recorders and all of them have had this problem... eventually.
The customer service person there at AudioVox/RCA was direct, helpful, but clear that I couldn't do anything but reformat the recorder. Though she didn't really seem to care, by her tone, one way or another. They were still reproducing this product even with the flaws that exist (they certainly did not take ownership of the problem... they said it was out of their control and the problem was just like a virus).
Can't erase messages shows there gone but as soon
Does this unit connect to remote device (computer or ext. controller)? If so, it may be remotely manageable, and if on a Windows computer might get set to "write protect" (which will mean no erase, but doesn't explain why the dir is erased). Some units have a lock or data protect function or button, once again doesn't explain why the list of messages would be gone. Worst case is something's wrong with the firmware, meaning probably not worth fixing.
Can you retrieve data from olympus VN-4100PC voice
Check out this link below to download a PDF manual for your recorder. Just copy and paste into your browser.

RCA RP 5012B digital recorder
It is not possible to download the sound files in their digital forms with this model of recorder. The only way to transfer the recordings is to connect a male-to-male 3.5mm (1/8") plug from the recorder to the line input of the PC (as was formerly mentioned) and record it onto the PC in real time. I've done this with mine and it works fine...it just takes longer to do than tranferring the actual digital file to the PC. A good MP3 recorder for the PC is Audio Record Wizard.

The full version costs $25, but I think it's worth it.
My RCA home theater system,
Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.
Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.
You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.
If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.
If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.
