My TV will not turn

Sounds like a power supply issue in the tv. The regulator and a fuse are probably at fault. I had one today of the same model with the same problem. There is a small solder in fuse, a soldered in regulator ic and a capacitor that needed to be changed. A reasonable repair cost for this repair would be 155-225 us dollars depending on if in-home service is needed. This is only my best guess . Hope this helps. Good luck, Russmann.

Convergence color is not converting

Replace convergence IC (location 8c01) which is a STK-393-110. You will need to order an after market market convergence IC (STK 393-110) I have had good luck with this IC. Next, check and replace all the 3.9 ohm 2 watt resistors, that are bad. You can check them with an ohm meter or visually inspect for burns or peels. Resolder the Convergence board, as by now there are many bad grounds (broken solder connections). Be sure to resolder the jumper jacks that connect the board to the next board too.(Under this board are solder traces that adhere to the jumper connections that will snap to the next board.) These would include jumper jacks PM, VU, and PF. Good luck and thanks for asking, show all hands of support!

TV won"t stay on turns

Do the self check when power light goes off.

On front of set press and hold both the menu and input buttons for 5 seconds or longer and release both buttons.

Power light will blink a error code like: 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat about 4 more times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

If this information told you something rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

I exceeded the convergence values

Hi,

This error means X-Ray protect circuit

There are several things that can cause this.
The most common is the convergence circuit, this circuit is responsible for lining up all the colors on the screen, however when it shorts out it will shut the set down exactly like yours is doing. This repair normally runs around $400.

However this could also be caused by the horizontal circuit, deflection board, main board, fluid leak, and high voltage circuit to name a few. The average repair price for any of these is $400-$700 depending on exactly what is found.

To determine exactly what the problem is will require troubleshooting. Some knowledge of electronics and a multimeter will be needed for this. If you have this knowledge/tools I will be more than happy to walk you through the troubleshooting of this set and determine what is wrong. Also most repairs will require good soldering skills so you will need these as well for us to repair the tv after diagnosis. If you don't have any of this then a repairman would be your next step.

I am sorry to bring you the bad news on this one, you definitely have an internal failure in the set that is putting it into shut down.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

If power light comes on and then goes off do the self check this set has:

when light goes off and front of set press and hold both the menu and Input (device) buttons in at same time for at least five seconds and release both buttons.

The set will (the power light) blink a two digit error code like, 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat the code several times.

2,2 is most common error code, let me know what error code if any you find and comment here and I will tell you what it means.

The self check is designed to narrow down where a problem is.

Hello
There is a system reset button on the front panel of your TV. You have to reset it. Resetting will bring all the settings to factory defaults. There is a small hole on the front panel. The reset button is behind this hole. To reset do the folloing:-

If the TV doesn't respond to either the remote control or the front panel controls or will not power off, press the SYSTEM RESET button on the front panel with a pointed item such as the point of a ball point pen or end tip of a paperclip.
The TV will turn off and the green led will flash quickly for about one minute. When the green led stops flashing, you may turn on the TV again. The changes you made while the TV was most recently on, before you used the SYSTEM RESET button may lost, however, the changes you made previously are not lost. Only those changes since
power On may be lost when the system reset button is pressed. All other settings are retained.
Ok.

You have a convergence problem. You will looking for the board with all the RCA jacks and RF connections. There you will See large heatsinks with ICs clipped to them. If you can remove the clip or clips you should note the STK IC or ICs. They may be a STK 392XXX, STK 393XXX, or a STK 394XXX. You will have replace that particular one, along with any burned or open 2 watt resistors. The Resistors may be 2 watts at 6.8 ohms. They are usually sitting tall next to the convergence IC. And in many cases you may have a weak or bad capacitor or two that may have contributed to a failing STK. Replace these caps a swell. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

I have a WS-55807 that

Hi,

The code 2-2 does indicates a short protect fault, which is usually caused by a failure in the convergence section. This is a very common repair in these sets. The typical repair involves replacing the convergence ICs (integrated circuits), and testing/replacing two small pico fuses.

The replacement ICs for your set are part number: STKxxx-xxx and are available from www.encompassparts.com for $19.95 each (needs two). You will also need at least one (likely two) 5 Amp pico fuses. If you wish to repair this yourself, the ICs are located on the large heat sink on the center (Power) PC board. The fuses are also on this board, near the center, location numbers: FXAXX and FXAXX. You would need soldering equipment and very good soldering skills to replace these parts.

An image of the same would be ( the below one is a generic picture ) :-

taran_2005_7.jpg

If you were to call a local shop to repair this, the labor to replace these is roughly $250-275 (in my area) if the TV were brought in to the shop. Please add a trip charge if repaired in the home.

The fuses must be tested with a multimeter to see if they are bad. They are only $2.50 each, so most people without a meter just change them both. If the repair has any problems, like a solder bridge, you may need a meter to check them after that. A good magnifying glass helps prevent solder bridges (for me, anyway).

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

I have a ws-55807. power

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error code 2-2 means short protect which is either caused by bad convergence ICs and/or 2 Pico fuses (F9A05 and F9A04). You'll need to open the back of the unit and replace the parts that have gone bad to resolve this issue. There are repair kits available which includes repair instructions with the parts, if you want to do it yourself, you can buy and repair it yourself. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
