Nu Mark Numark Cdn36 Dual CD Player CD Player Questions & Answers
Cdn 88 not reading cd
Hi, the main board will issue this (no disc) error code when the lens assembly is malfunctioning. this assembly incorporates the lens head and body and tracking rail. this rail has a motor and gear assembly that has to work in unison in order to track and read properly. the (no disc) error is signaling ga serious malfunction within this assembly. it is not tracking. this will cause errors and the lens will not be able to scan for data to transfer to the main board for track display and info.
numark does all the repairs in house so, you will have to send this unit to numark for the lens assembly replacement. it has failed.
I have several NUMARK CDN88 dual cd players with
Going through this problem myself. I've diagnosed that the drive (motor) unit should separate from a magnetic disc that sandwiches the CD between it and the motor. For some reason the mechanism isn't powerful enough to pull it away when the drawer wants to open, so it sticks. It seems to be a mechanical, rather than and electronic issue. I'm looking at replacing both drives rather than a fix, for reliability issues. I've got a number of CDN models and it's only the CDN88 that has this issue !

Hello
Will you please give me a brief description about the fault of your CD player, and the circustances led you to go with that set to a repair shop? I wish to know the first time problem with your set, more than about the repair and component replacement. Give me it briefly. OK.
I have power to the main unit, but the cd drawers
I have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. Did you get yours working yet? is there a fuse? a bad connection? shorted part? oh man, i've been searching on and off for years and i don wanna go to some repair shop wher they gonna tell me 50 for a diagnostic.
How do i remove the jogwheels from cdn88
Back casing of remote must come off. I believe there are 3 screws above, 3 below, and 2 near connector plug. With back off, you will see 2 circle sections. The jogwheels are held in with "C" clips. Take needlenose pliers or flathead screwdriver and remove them. Jogwheels will slide straight out.
CDN88 Dual CD Player Display Problem
This could very possibly be a bad internal circuitry problem. A firmware problem due to faulty chip or capacitor or resistor. Testing will need to be performed to find the exact fault. An ohmmeter, vom meter, and cap tester will be needed. Most units are 25-30 ohms and 5 volts of power in each component. A purchased service manual would be very handy.
Have you tried all display settings to rule out settings as the problem factor?
I have a numark dual cd player and one of them
the laser may be dirty.
Use a can of compressed air if you have a can; otherwise, get a laser cleaner ($13 Radio Shack).
It is an "audio CD" with tiny brushes on it. Read the directions carefully, and have your speakers / headphones on.
No chemicals involved.

Cdn 36 pbm
unit needs internal cleaning. cleaning cd probably won't work.
Not reading cd
Either needs a manual cleaning of the laser or the laser needs to be replaced. Cleaning Cd's generally will not work in this situation
Play button on numark cdn-88 does is messed
The problem is the play button itself. The controller has to be disassembled and the TAC switch needs to be replaced. Would not recommend you do it yourself unless you are good with a soldering iron. It is easy to damage the circuit board with excessive heat or if you are not very gentle removong the existing switch.
I turn on my cdn36.......
There are switches that detect the door opening and closing, those switches need to be cleaned or replaced. That is really all that will cause this type of problem.
Good luck,
Dave
